📚FIRST GRADE📚

It’s flying by so fast. Ella Kate has been so reluctant to start a new year. She told me as she as walking in to school, “Mom, I think the hardest part about growing up is that even though I am getting older, I don’t feel older.”

Same girl same!! 😂

She absolutely loved her Kindergarten year and she had hit the Kindergarten jackpot with the most incredible and loving teacher. So moving forward from something she loved and was comfortable with wasn’t easy.

I had to tell Ella Kate some of my personal beliefs and convictions to help her perspective….I shared with her that growing up is a BLESSING! While I’ll miss the sweetness of that wide eyed Kindergartner last year, God has another year of growth in store for her and another incredible year of being her mama 🩷 by @mandy.boles

Today, we celebrated Gunnar. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN.

What began as a rainy Tennessee morning turned into blinding sunshine just as the pomp and circumstance came to a close… one of those little moments that somehow feels symbolic.

Watching him walk across that stage was an absolute joy. And in many ways, I found myself living words I’ve said for the last decade. I have always encouraged people to be thankful instead of sad when watching children grow, because growing up is a blessing.

And what a blessing it is to watch a child grow, overcome, achieve, and step into adulthood. It’s something to never take for granted. It is a privilege and one I hold with deep gratitude.

The irony of celebrating Gunnar’s graduation on May 23 is not lost on me, and probably never will be. Life has a way of holding both joy and ache in the same moment. But today, joy won.

I am incredibly proud of the young man he’s becoming. His resilience, his heart, his work ethic, and the way he continues to move forward through every season life has handed him.

What a gift it has been to have a front row seat to his journey so far. Looking forward to seeing what’s next.
