Three stories I’ve been reading, loving, and recommending lately. 📚

Each one offers something different—a story to get lost in, a perspective to sit with, and a book that stays with you long after the final page.

Here are three worth adding to your reading list -
•”Venus Vanishing” by Rebecca Birrell
•”The Camino” by Anya Niewierra
•”The Weight of Angels” by John Boyne

New episode out now on “The Bookshop Podcast,” my literary podcast dedicated to books, authors, indie bookshops, and the world of publishing. We are joined by Laura Guzman, @lauraguzmanreads. She founded Book Society, it is an independent, woman-owned bookstore and wine lounge in Berkeley, California, and co-owned with Sarah Wheat.

Laura shares the “why” behind creating a 21+ laptop-free space where people actually talk to each other again, and how her small-town library memories turned into a modern third place for the Bay Area. We also dig into the practical details: the long permit process, what it takes to curate a tight, always-changing selection of books, and how pairing books with a rotating wine menu makes both reading and wine feel more approachable.

We also talk about bold growth ideas, including their shippable book-and-wine gift boxes, pop-ups and partnerships, traveling book club retreats, and the new Read to Lead program that brings leadership development into the book club experience.

I’m thrilled to partner with @vefagallery Gallery in Torrance, CA, to bring acclaimed author @tess.gerritsen Gerritsen to Entres Nous, the Los Angeles version of The Narrative Exchange’s Lunch With Author Literary Series!

Award-winning, bestselling author Tess Gerritsen has written more than thirty novels, published in forty countries and selling over 40 million copies worldwide. Many of her books have been top-three bestsellers in the U.S. and #1 bestsellers internationally. The daughter of a Chinese immigrant and a Chinese American seafood chef, Gerritsen grew up in San Diego dreaming of writing Nancy Drew mysteries. She earned a degree from Stanford University and an M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco, before turning to fiction while on maternity leave from her medical career. After early success with romantic suspense, she made her New York Times bestseller debut with the medical thriller Harvest. Her Rizzoli & Isles series inspired the hit TNT television show. She is also the author of the bestselling Martini Club series. Tess Gerritsen lives in Maine.

This is a ticketed event. To purchase tickets, go to thenarrativeexchange.com

Special thanks to to Megan at @mbc_books
