🐟 Happy National Salmon Day! 🐟

Today seems like the perfect day to share a Deneen adventure from Alaska! 🏔️🌊

This summer, Mandy worked in Southeast Alaska and was able to explore by boat and see the incredible waters and wilderness of the Tongass National Forest. And, of course, she couldn’t come home without a Deneen Pottery souvenir! ☕️

This mug came from the Sitka Sound Science Center in Sitka, Alaska, a special reminder of a summer spent surrounded by some of the most amazing wildlife and untouched scenery on earth.

Salmon were definitely part of the adventure! 🐟 It started with a Salmon release party in Sitka, releasing some Pink Salmon Fry and Coho Smelt. Throughout the summer, guests on Board the Mist Cove were able to reel in some impressive salmon. From catching them to helping send the next generation on its way, salmon were woven into the summer in all kinds of ways. 💙 Wild salmon conservation is a way of life in Alaska, and the Sitka Sound Science Center will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We love that this little Deneen mug now holds a story that goes far beyond the cup itself: a story of Alaska, adventure, conservation, and a summer on the water.

🇫🇷 ALASKA — LA DERNIÈRE FRONTIÈRE 🐻

L’un de mes gros coups de cœur de ces deux mois d’expédition !

Entre les glaces du Groenland, les fjords d’Alaska et la forêt amazonienne, difficile de choisir. Trois univers exceptionnels, trois façons de découvrir une nature brute et sauvage.

Mais l’Alaska m’aura particulièrement marqué par l’incroyable richesse de ses rencontres animalières : grizzlis, baleines, loutres de mer, pygargues…

Et puis, il y a les corbeaux ! 🐦‍⬛ Du Groenland à l’Alaska, en passant par la Colombie-Britannique, ils n’auront cessé de croiser ma route.

Oiseaux de mauvais augure ou porte-bonheur ? Pour moi, ils auront été de magnifiques compagnons de voyage !

🇬🇧 ALASKA — THE LAST FRONTIER 🐻

One of the highlights of my two months of expeditions!

From Greenland’s ice to Alaska’s fjords and the Amazon rainforest, choosing a favourite is impossible. Three extraordinary worlds, each revealing nature at its wildest.

Alaska stood out for its incredible wildlife: grizzlies, whales, sea otters, bald eagles…

And the ravens! 🐦‍⬛ From Greenland to British Columbia and Alaska, they kept crossing my path.

A bad omen or a lucky charm? For me, these magnificent black birds became my travelling companions!

☕️ IT’S NATIONAL COFFEE DAY, PEOPLE. ☕️

And as if we needed another excuse to drink coffee out of a Deneen mug… 😂

For most people, a coffee run is: 🚗 Drive to coffee shop ☕️ Get coffee 🏠 Go home

For us, it’s more like: 🚗 Drive somewhere ☕️ Get coffee 🏺 Find Deneen 👀 “WAIT… THEY HAVE A MUG?!” 💳 welp 📸 Take approximately 47 pictures of said mug 🚗 Continue adventure ☕️ Repeat

Because coffee tastes better when it comes with a good mug, a ridiculous detour, and a story to tell. And apparently we are willing to travel questionable distances to prove it. 😂

So cheers to coffee, mugs, road trips, Deneen Pottery, and all the wonderfully unnecessary adventures that come with collecting them.

More fun in Alaska! Last week I got to play chef for a few days, then drive a skiff, this week I got to throw a party at a lighthouse and catch lines for the skiff! Today is Nature Photography Day! We’re celebrating with a shoutout to the fantastic Fait Accompli Gallery & Gifts shop in Sitka, Alaska. The opportunities for nature photography in the area are astounding, and Fate Accompli has a large selection of beautiful nature designs and artwork on a variety of locally-produced and handmade gifts. We love their selection of Deneen Pottery mugs, bowls, and shot glasses (or shot potteries?). And it’s wonderful that their artwork pays tribute to the indigenous Tlingit people, incorporating the Tlingit words for the animals on their designs.

Here are a couple of the Deneen Pottery mugs Mandy brought home from Fate Accompli, along with some of amazing nature shots she captured in Alaska.
