To assert, 2025

The video of the eyes stems from a reflection on how we consume exhibitions and how, through memory, we curate our own mental collections. The eyes represent our selective gaze, but they also raise a deeper question: what is our role as observers?

At one point, my hands try to grasp the eyes, a symbolic act that reveals how the artist doesn’t simply frame meaning but actively intervenes in its construction. Interpretation becomes contested space.

The accompanying photographs explore the subtle performativity of routine. Each gesture, each repetition becomes choreography, revealing belief itself as a projection of longing. Within this framework, shaped by an ocular-centric world, the images ask: what if the act of seeing is already a form of curating new understandings?

By disrupting traditional symbols and expectations, the work opens a space for instability, echoing Sylvia Lavin’s reflections on postmodern fragmentation. Rather than offer answers, the aim is to provoke a shift: to rethink what we see, why we see it, how meaning is formed through the act of looking, and the way we react to it.
