જોબનવંતી ચારણ કન્યા
આગ ઝરંતી ચારણ કન્યા
નેસ નિવાસી ચારણ કન્યા
જગદમ્બા શી ચારણ કન્યા
ડાંગ ઉઠાવે ચારણ કન્યા
ત્રાડ ગજાવે ચારણ કન્યા
હાથ હિલોળી ચારણ કન્યા

ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યના મહાન કવિ શ્રી ઝવેરચંદ મેઘાણીની અને દુલાભાયા કાગ ગીર ના જંગલો માં સાહિત્યની ખોજ માં ફરતા હતા. ૧૯૨૮ માં ગીરના જગલમાં, તુલસીશ્યામ પાસેના એક નેસડામાં હીરબાઈ નામની ૧૪ વર્ષની ચારણ કન્યાએ એકલે હાથે પોતાની વાછરડીને મારનાર સિંહને એનું માંસ ચાખવા નહોતું દીધું અને ફક્ત લાકડીએથી ગીરના સાવજને હાંકી કાઢ્યો હતો. એ વખતે ચારણ દીકરી ની બહાદુરી જોઈ ને મેઘણીભાઈ ત્યાં ઊભા ઊભા ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યની અમર કવિતા ‘ચારણ-કન્યા’ કાગળ-કલમ સિવાય રચીને ગાવા લાગ્યા હતા. ઝવેરચંદ મેઘાણીની ૯ માર્ચે (૧૯૪૭) ૭૭મી પૂણ્યતિથિ ગઈ. એમને શત શત વંદન.

બાળી ભોળી પણ જરૂર પડ્યે જગદંબા....

"Hopeful Gaze"

This Beauty found a happy home in personal collection of Ravi Singh Sir, CEO WWF India.

Red pandas living in Eastern Himalayas and South-western China are vegetarian, feeding on young leaves but classified as vegetarian carnivores (as they are descended from carnivores ancestor). They are only surviving species of their family and not related to Panda.

Red panda is state animal of Sikkim

Due to habitat loss and fragmentation is biggest challenge to their survivle.
WWF India is running a conservation project since 2005.

I skip my heartbeat...I feel excited as well very sad to see this....

Couple of years back bought this pair of Mojdi from one of artisans fair. Just got it out to wear n what I noticed..😱

Those famous words ....

May be its true to its words "Renewed shall be blade that was broken..."

I wonder what must be original source of this recycled item.... Any guess ?
I see 'Lord of Rings' book with such engraved leather on internet, Wish I had book cover in my hand than its on my Mojdi.
I don't think i can wear the pair with these engraved words...

Muriya comes from Sanskrit word Mul मूल, means Original, became Mur मूर and the Original native is Muria.
The Muria tribe is settled in every area of Dantewada and Bastar in Chhattisgarh.
The Muria tribe are strong financialy. The cultural heritage is also very rich. Their festivals, dances, dress, marriage rites, social rules make them stand different from other tribes.

They Wear minimum clothes.
Woman were sari or Lunghi without blouse. Economic prosperity seen in their gold jewelry. From earings to long necklaces, rings & noserings all gold.

Hair stye is typical, tightly combed oily hair bun on oneside, like seen in the sculptures of the Mauryan period. The hairstyle is incomplete without comb. Nowadays plastic comb is used but many women still makes bamboo comb which is called padia, kakwa or kakai.
Tattoos on the hands, face and chest areas were also very common but very rare now.

'My Corner' :
Pastel painting on pastelmat

One morning, on steps of temple at Sambhar lake I saw him seating with head down in one corner.

That time, Technically Photograph didn't turned out good. But the light & shadow was so beautifully render with his pain of dark world that it touched me. I thout its just telling his story.

Hope this painting too conveys same.

May sun turns little bit to brightenbup his world.

'I can walk but pl be behind me..' thats how my friend captioned this painting.
World Wetland day
Thanks to my friend Nirav Bhatt for many reference images.
Sadly day by day wetlands are disappering. Hope it won't be too late for humans to realise that everything in nature has its own role and nothing can be replaced by playing with balances created by motger nature.
