POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Soooo, myself and a group of incredible individuals and creatives made a feature-documentary film called,”Black Girls”, which will be making its much-anticipated premiere at the prestigious @tribeca film festival in New York. This film is not only the culmination of 2.5 years of relentless work, interviews, and collaborative efforts, it’s also a love letter to the generations of black women who have so bravely crafted the intricacies and complexities of black womanhood.

In September of 2021, I left my job to pursue this work. For the next 10+ months, I met and engaged with incredible individuals, hearing stories, drying tears, and belly laughing the whole way through. This filmmaking process quite literally changed my life and challenged the way I even thought of myself. I am immeasurably grateful to God for blessing me with this opportunity and I can’t wait to see how Black Girls resonates with you.

“Black Girls” is an anthology documentary that follows the stories of Black women through the lenses of rebirth, transformation, and healing. These women have transcended beyond their adversities to become advocates in their community. It is an exploration of intergenerational healing that traces the spectrum of advocacy among Black women from a variety of angles.

We are presenting this mosaic of Black womanhood and girlhood exclusively on @comcast’s Black Experience on @xfinity’s channel, X1, @xumotv, and Flex.

If you’re in NY, you can come experience Tribeca X at Convene One Liberty Plaza on June 10th & 11th! Passes are on sale now.

Last year was one for the books work wise, one of the highlights was producing one of our RADAR campaigns with one of my favorite artists, (and soon to be seven time Grammy-Winner) Leon Thomas. ✨

Congrats also to the best team there is @earthtokibria, @wrightderekj, @genchangenchan, @grandcrew and many more. 🤍 taken in Los Angeles, California by @manichrome__

God sent me the most extraordinary places in 2024 to shoot, work and play - where I met and experienced the most extraordinary people and cultures. Here are some photos from my POV caught on film in Thailand (and a sprinkle of Portugal).

Thankful for His faithfulness to direct my steps as I attempt to make a few plans.

PS - remember to tell TSA to hand check your film and film camera. Some of these photos would have looked a little better. 🙃 taken in Bangkok, Thailand by @manichrome__

So happy to share my latest production for Wrapped 2023! This year was all about “realness” and these films communicate the realness of the feelings we have while listening to the biggest songs of the year. So proud of what we were able to create. 🎈

Much love to our partners and the greatest creative team to ever do it, love y’all! I’ll spare everyone the tags but you know who you are. 🥹 by @manichrome__

Grief has been the biggest experience of my life. In so many ways and directions I feel my heart has been pulled into anger, joy, deep sadness, and gratitude. I don’t have words to describe how I feel about my Papa, but he was who I called father, friend, and a true example of what it looks like to love God with all your heart.

My Papa was a giant in my life (literally too the guy was tall), and my soft place to land. Even through sicknesses his mind stayed in tact and sharp, always here for a good belly laugh and a sip of whiskey (if the doctor cleared it 😂). What makes me sad sometimes is that some people who never met him never will, but that’s actually not true! We are very similar so if you met me, you’ve met Tip.

It pains me in the most beautiful way that this photo has been made complete, that I now stand on the shoulder of this giant, this incredible man of God, my father, my light. I’ll love you forever and ever!! Glory to God for the opportunity to experience you. For those who are also experiencing grief, I implore you to trust in the Lord, and He will renew your strength, daily. 🫶🏾

“Your foot will not slip”

This was a scripture written on the back one of our skateboards created for this project, nearly 9 months in the making. It reminds me that as a people, we should have no fear in taking risks and following our calling. God, the ancestors, are cradling us as we follow our purpose.

So privileged to have produced this film along with @leahdberg, starring the @skatenationghana fam who in every way embody the spirit of this proverb - their beauty, community and connectivity has taught me more than they’ll ever know. Very blessed to have played a role in bringing their story to the Olympics stage.

Also, privileged to have worked with incredible directorial team of @bafic, @elliottpower_ and @justynaobasi as their intentionality into every detail, has been filmmaking at its finest.

Special shout out to the entire D5 team, but specifically @leahdberg @lautista.b @thomoflondon @inniemeenie @nicobaumann @benjaminhinamanu @sarahkara @haymacck, for your creative partnership and teamwork, I’ve learned so much from each of you. Let’s make the next thing!! 😜 taken in Accra, Ghana by @manichrome__
