On Monday, the ophthalmologist confirmed that Momo’s left eye appears to have developed cancer, specifically melanoma of the iris. We are extremely lucky that - despite testing positive for FeLV - the rest of her bloodwork came back relatively normal, which means she is a candidate for a newer laser treatment that can freeze the cancer without requiring the removal of her eye.

After the past few weeks of uncertainty and dread, during which we were facing much grimmer potential outcomes, I am just so thankful and relieved that treatment is even a possibility. I am so grateful that she has a chance.

Her companionship has helped and healed me in ways I never thought possible. I would not be here if it wasn’t for her. I would not still be in addiction recovery if it wasn’t for her. She has made me a better person, through and through, and I am so thankful to have her in my life every single day.

We’re not out of the woods yet, but there is hope, and for now, that’s enough 💚

Lord I'm 1,180 miles from the beautiful prairie landscapes that raised me. No matter how much I love the place I call home now, I still miss getting to see views like these so much it makes my heart ache every single day. I spent too much of the time I was lucky enough to be there wishing I was anywhere else, and now that I've gotten to see a good bit of all that everywhere else I was so excited about, I have come to the bittersweet conclusion that there really, truly - in a very tangible, wild way that you can smell in the early August heat of the soil and feel in the late March tides of the wind and see year round in the great cloud cathedrals that cut across the sky like ships sailing upon an upside down sea: there is no place like Nebraska. ❤️‍🩹 Please keep the Sandhills in your thoughts and cross your fingers for a break in the ongoing dry & windy weather as volunteer fire crews continue to combat & contain the remaining wildfires in the Nebraskan panhandle. by @manicpixiepagliacci

🏔️🌇🌴🦜 Mojito Pippinpaddle turned 10 years old this January and we celebrated 4 years together in February. I owe everything to this tiny cat who chose to bet on a losing dog (me). It is a strange but magical thing to be looked after & cared for by a pet who clearly considers themselves just as much your keeper as you are theirs. Without Momo, I wouldn't have stopped drinking, I wouldn't have stopped self-harming, and I wouldn't have stopped trying to leave this Earth altogether. I owe the life I now have and enjoy to her, and I aim to never take a single moment of what she has given me for granted. I love you endlessly, my dearest Momimo.🦋🌱🪟🐈 by @manicpixiepagliacci

my heart has been full of love and hope and wedding nostalgia this week (a side effect of the halftime show), so here is Yet Another Photo Spam comprised of some of my personal favorites from both ceremonies last year 💞 Love and community are the most important things in the world - they have the power to heal, help us grow, give us strength, and provide the foundation from which we can change the world around us and build a better future - together. 🫶🏻 So go hug your people! July contained a lot of beautiful moments and memories that I'm very thankful for. Maybe the Universe was trying to apologize for June by giving me a divinely ordained photo op with the man behind my favorite fictional world of all time (the genius Yoshi-P, director + producer of FFXIV), but it was definitely trying to humble 17 year-old Me by making 30 year-old Me unironically belt out the lyrics to "Country Girl" in public.

More than halfway through 2025 and we're still waiting for a "things are looking up this month!" month to actually deliver on those ups. Even though I'm fairly convinced I have some sort of Eldritch bad luck curse looming over me at this point, waking up every day in my prairie inspired bedroom lovingly renovated by hand by my two best friends who I get to live and hang out with every day as we face the Horrors That Persist together is about as Charmed a life as one could hope for. by @manicpixiepagliacci

Today marks the beginning of the third decade in which this world has been blessed by the life, light, and warm presence of the singular @ava.ojeda - and gang, she is just getting started.

It has been a privilege to have spent our twenties together, intertwined in each other’s lives no matter the distance or differences between us. Ten years ago, we celebrated your birthday in the apartment that would soon become our first home together. Today, we’re celebrating in a house from your childhood that, day by day, is transforming into the home your own children will grow up in.

You are one of the most wonderful human beings this world has ever known, but what I don’t know is what I ever did to deserve to be loved so fully and fiercely by you. Regardless of however misguided the choice, it has been an honor to be chosen by you. Over, and over, and over again. Even when I didn’t deserve it, but most especially when I stopped choosing myself.

You make me believe in magic and myself and that everything will be okay someday. I’ve watched you move mountains for the ones you love. I’ve witnessed your limitless passion and dedication for the things and causes you care about. I’ve seen you push yourself through pain and exhaustion because of your immense stubbor- I mean uh [shuffles note cards] your INDOMITABLE grit and determination. I’m in awe that someone as incredible and baffling and bafflingly incredible as you exists, and I’m thankful that I have a front row seat for all the years and chapters of your life to come.
