I wrote this poem many moons ago and recorded it two years ago, learning the details of the rape that took place at Cornell by those vile creatures had me thinking about it. It has sent a flood of memory to my mind, I was a sexual assault advocate in college. I was apart of an origination dedicated to educating the campus on sexual assault and advocating for change because this is not new in America this is standard. It happens everywhere , for me it happened when I was 18 a few months before college at my very first party. I wasn’t the only person assaulted that night either and there were witnesses. Rape culture needs to die as do rapists. My heart is with the woman who would not let up and made sure her story got told far and wide because these men are a danger to society. My heart goes out to all victims and survivors of sexual assault being triggered by the details and discourse. Take care of yourself

I’ve been noticing many women being lost in the haze of hating men and forgetting the ways women emulate the same toxic behaviors of the men they themselves detest. There is a deep need and call for collective healing of both sexes. As a woman I have gotten lost in my excitement and blindly have trusted women in various scenarios strictly because she’s a woman and presenting kindly. The deeper I healed my mother wounds the sharper my discernment became. Be mindful of whom you let in your energy especially intimately ( intimacy exists outside of sex and that’s what I’m referring to) , trust your gut and put no one on a pedestal
