It’s official.

Mark Matthews of Ink Master and myself @inkedup_byjay are building something together — ASHES TO INK.

What started as conversations between two tattoo artists is becoming something much bigger.

Ashes to Ink is being built around real conversations with real people. Tattooing will always be part of our world, but this podcast goes beyond the tattoo chair.

We want to talk about the things people carry with them — loss, struggle, addiction, success, failure, family, grief, second chances, rebuilding, purpose, art, and the experiences that permanently shape who we become.

No scripts. No pretending. No perfect stories.

Just honest conversations and the stories behind the people telling them.

Right now, we’re building this from the ground up, and we’re putting this out there for anyone who believes in what we’re creating and wants to be part of the beginning.

We are proud to welcome Mark Matthews back to the All American Tattoo Convention & to the 2026 VIP Gold Star Meet and Greet.

Mark brings more than just artistic talent to the tattoo world, before stepping into the spotlight on Inkmaster, he built his reputation competing in MMA and later bareknuckle boxing. He has a level of discipline and toughness that still shows in everything he does today. Mark continues to train weekly, carrying that same intensity into his craft.

A familiar face at AATC, Mark has become a staple of the show and someone our attendees look forward to seeing every year.

He will be joining us for the VIP Meet and Greet, where VIP guests and Gold Star Family members will have the opportunity to connect with him and other Ink Master contestants in a more personal setting.

A proper balance of work, play and self care go a long way…. And may even be the key to the youthful way I move/live, even at 50….
Made a tattoo room at home to educate my apprentices and have them learn hands on in a controlled environment…. Still knocking out solid tattoos at @devotedtattoostudio and @fatcattattoo_og

Just a chill day here at the casa…. The weather is good, the house is quiet and progress can/will be made! Today begins the journey into truly working to create content and take my platform seriously, while actually starting to adult (I figure 50 is a good age to start)….
I’ll be getting better at this shit day in n day out. And I’m excited about having another outlet of creativity to express myself through! I’m gonna do what I can to fix the fake standards of the internet. Where all you see is the avatars and portrayals of the lives people wish they were leading, but don’t, but want everyone to think they are…. That shit is weird. So, ima keep it a buck at all times here!!!!

As 2024 is on its last chapter, I realize it’s a year that has enlightened me on much of myself. Showed me how much I’m in my own way. Showed me how much unrealized potential I still have…. And it made me take a harsh, honest look at myself. I’m usually not much for New Year’s resolutions and such. But, this year, it’s gonna be a different approach…. I discovered much that I wish/need to change if I intend to live the life I am capable and deserving of. I have lived a life with no plan (I never thought I’d live this long), not much structure, winging everything by the seat of my pants and no real aspirations in recent years. I was just existing. Not even feeling like myself most days. I discovered that I was in a mentally unhealthy phase and it took longer to shake than I ever imagined or hoped to admit. In that unhealthy phase, I seem to have become more of a talker, than a doer. And anyone who KNOWS me, knows that ain’t me. So, before the new year kicks off, it’s time to accept my accountability and make amends to those who have tolerated me this long while in this phase…. I’ve made promises I didn’t keep and cheapened my own word in the process. Even if no one caught on, I know better. And cheapened it to myself. I had grand aspirations for 2024, but no plan. Well, no plan means no real progress. So, as the year ends? I’m rebooting and reprogramming myself. Getting my resolutions in motiin now. And practicing them each day beginning NOW. So that when the New Year hits? I’ll be in proper motion with momentum behind me. I’m sharing this intention with all of you to keep myself publicly accountable. As that’s what I need. Accountability…. It’s like I get to get away with too much shit in my world. And although it can be fun? I ain’t tryna live like that. I’ve been and lived as a big ass kid my whole life. Now that I’m a few months away from being 50 years old? I think it’s actually time to grow the fuck up…. And make the most of myself with the tools I’ve been blessed with to do so…. That said? #StayTuned because I’m gonna give my all into anything I invest time, energy or attention in. And when I’m focused? I move fucking mountains….
