This week, we are proud to spotlight Matt Simpson a true “man of culture” whose leadership, energy, and love for Rockford can be felt throughout the community.

Matt is a father, entrepreneur, economic and community development leader, co-founder of Eight Fifteen Capital, co-founder of the Wabongo Leadership Council, he helps entrepreneurs and community-focused organizations grow. His work over the past 15+ years has included neighborhood revitalization, business development, youth leadership, and creating opportunities that strengthen Rockford.

Beyond the titles, Matt is known for showing up.💯
Whether it is a local business opening, cultural celebration, youth initiative, community event, or simply supporting someone else’s vision, you can count on seeing him there with positive energy and a genuine smile.

His dedication and perseverance were also on full display when he completed the IRONMAN 70.3 Rockford on his birthday—a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride, and 13.1-mile run through the Rockford region. 💪🏾

Thank you, Matt, for investing your time, leadership, and heart into Rockford and for reminding us what it looks like to support a community not only with words, but by consistently showing up.

CELEBRATING BUSINESS + CULTURE 🎤🎶🕺🏿

12/11/25 - My brother @finemindz_polo invited me to be special guest host for the 1yr anniversary of his karaoke event at @sheila_daiquirilounge.

I was honored to help celebrate our culture at one of our most important businesses! It was also special to "receive my flowers" from brother Polo, as someone who inspired him as a karaoke DJ and host!
