The flood took the bridge and cut Bidur in two.
A drone flew a guide line over the river. Then a Rope.
Then a steel cable. A lifeline for food and first aid.

Y CUANDO SALE EL SOL…

La noche termina, pero la celebración continúa.

Miles de personas llegan al templo desde primera hora.

Filas que parecen no tener fin.

Todos esperan su momento para entrar en Pashupatinath.

ORACIONES.

OFRENDAS.

MANTRAS.

Agua.
Leche.
Flores.
Hojas de bilva

Cada gesto tiene un significado.

Cada persona viene buscando algo diferente.

Pero todos vienen por lo mismo:

estar cerca de Shiva.

Y después de una noche entera despiertos…

LA FE SIGUE MÁS VIVA QUE NUNCA.

Miles de personas.
Un solo templo.
Una misma devoción.

¿QUÉ SE CELEBRA?

Maha Shivaratri significa “la gran noche de Shiva”

Una noche dedicada a Shiva, a la meditación, la introspección y el despertar espiritual.

Según algunas tradiciones, también es la noche en la que Shiva realizó su **danza cósmica, el Tandava**, una danza que representa los ciclos de creación y destrucción del universo.

UNA NOCHE PARA MIRAR HACIA DENTRO

Los devotos permanecen despiertos, rezan, meditan, cantan mantras y realizan ofrendas en honor a Shiva.

Y EN PASHUPATINATH… LA NOCHE CAMBIA.

Miles de peregrinos y sadhus llegan al templo.

Hogueras, tambores, cánticos, humo y una energía difícil de explicar.

SHIVA Y EL CANNABIS

El cannabis está tradicionalmente asociado a Shiva y muchos sadhus lo consumen dentro de sus prácticas espirituales.

PERO LA NOCHE NO TERMINA AQUÍ.

Al amanecer continúan las oraciones y los rituales, con ofrendas de agua, leche y hojas de *bilva*.

Y mientras tanto, miles de personas esperan durante horas para entrar en Pashupatinath y conseguir el **darshan**: contemplar la forma sagrada de Shiva y recibir su bendición.

MAHA SHIVARATRI NO ES SOLO UNA FIESTA.

Más de 120 lenguas reconocidas conviven en el país, junto a decenas de pueblos, culturas y comunidades con sus propias tradiciones.
En las montañas, en los valles, en el Terai, en las ciudades o en los pequeños pueblos… cada lugar tiene sus propios rostros, sus propias palabras y su propia manera de entender la vida.
Y quizá eso es lo que más me gusta de Nepal.
