glad to announce the opening of the exhibition Technologies of Peace: Art and Transition in Contemporary Europe (1989–2026) with the participation of PCAI collection artists Latent Community ( @latentcommunity ) , Manolis D. Lemos ( @manolisdlemos ) and Petros Moris ( @petrosmoris ) at Ireland’s National Cultural Institution of Modern and Contemporary Art ( @immaireland )

The exhibition aims to explore the concept of peace, the tools of peace and how they are deployed through an artistic lens.
Focusing on the period from the 1990s to the present day, this project explores Ireland’s complex political history through artistic practice, drawing parallels with European counterparts that have followed similar trajectories from post-conflict societies towards democratic states characterised by peace and stability.

Dates: 12 Sept 2026 – 9 May 2027

The Waves Crashing VIMA Art Fair 2026
Manolis Daskalakis Lemos (@manolisdlemos)

Manolis Daskalakis Lemos presented ‘Silent Hysteria 4’ (2026), a sculptural installation composed of bitumen modules that unfold across the walls as an abstract wave.

Made from petroleum, the work exists simultaneously as a wave, an explosion, and an organic, ever-expanding structure. Created through a combination of intuitive composition and custom AI models the artist has developed over the past eight years, it blurs the boundaries between human gesture and algorithmic process.

‘Silent Hysteria 4’ continues Lemos’ long-running exploration of oil as both material and political symbol. Within the context of The Waves Crashing, the installation reflects on extraction, transformation, and the renewed significance of petroleum in today’s geopolitical landscape.

Manolis D. Lemos, The Vastness Of Tomorrow’s Empty Fields 2 (Hope), 2:34,2025

In The Vastness Of Tomorrow’s Empty Fields 2 (Hope) we move through shifting images: scenes of violent street marches dissolve into flickering church candles, which in turn give way to winter landscapes. The work mirrors the associative rhythm of dreaming, where one scene slips into another and, upon waking, memories fuse into a single stream, holding a tension between collapse and hope.

Personality trained AI processes are used to mediate feelings and memories into moving images, a tool the artist has been using over the past decade—until recently alien to most of us but now almost “natural” for communicating thoughts and feelings to others.

The Vastness Of Tomorrow’s Empty Fields 2 (Hope) is presented tonight as a pre-feature intervention

MANOLIS D. LEMOS /
@manolisdlemos

Since 2018, Manolis D. Lemos has been developing and using custom made generative AI as personal expressive tools, in collaboration with the MIT Computer Science and AI lab. ‘Untitled (Burning Mushroom)’ depicts a mushroom on fire as a black and white old photograph, in a formal analogy, alluding to a nuclear explosion and its devastating consequences on nature and earth.

To @krini_d for working on this with me through many stages of its realization 💞💞💞

And of course to #ConstantinosDaskalakis and his team at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory for introducing me to the world of machine learning and Deep Neural Networks back in 2018 and helping me customize and realize my vision for these collaborative emotional works.
