📍 Pacific Crest Trail 🇺🇸 4265 km | 2650 miles | Mexico ↔️ Canada

Meet one of the most iconic long-distance trails in the world: the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).

This thru-hike runs 4265 km (2650 miles) from the Mexican border in Southern California to the Canadian border in Washington. It crosses three states - California, Oregon, and Washington and passes through deserts, volcanic ranges, forests, and high alpine mountains 🏔️

The PCT follows the crest of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade ranges, with incredible other ecosystems also along the way. From the dry Mojave Desert to the snowy High Sierra, and the green forests of the Pacific Northwest - few trails know such diversity in one continuous go.

For most thru-hikers, the PCT takes between 4 and 6 months to complete. Along the way, you experience both the beauty and the challenge of life on trail: long water carries, snow crossings, wild weather, and trail magic ✨

Thousands of hikers apply for a PCT permit every year, but only a small percentage make it from Campo to Manning Park in one continuous hike. Those who do often describe it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience (unless they try to triple crown!).

I knew when I fell into the river and saw my disposable camera completely under the water that the photos might not work at all. But I still got some hope and continued capturing moments. March 18th to September 2nd. From the Mexican border to the Canadian one; through California, Oregon and Washington; through desert, mountains and forests; through cold, heat, snow and rain. I have hiked the Pacific Crest Trail.

I cannot say that I have walked all the 2,650 miles for various reasons: injuries, snowstorms, mental breakdowns, wildfires, heat wave, party. However I never gave up as it was not an option for me. I am no purist and I do not regret any of the decisions made while skipping miles; « Hike your own hike » they say.

This journey was tough and took me on a rollercoaster. It’s not a lie when they say it’s about the PEOPLE you meet. My journey would have been so different if I had not met them. Hikers that became friends in a second, trail angels that support you in many different ways, random strangers that are fascinated by what you’re doing, all these people that cheer you up when you’re down.

A long time dream that just came true and I would have never imagined crossing that finish line. I still not believe that this adventure is over and that I have to go back to the real life. I’m gonna miss living with the rhythm of daylight: waking up at sunrise, going to bed with the sunset; pooping in the woods; choosing a campsite for the night; the relief when the miles are done; stopping randomly on trail to watch the views and be amazed; running down hills & being out of breath uphill; I’m NOT gonna miss being stinky for days.

On trail you realize the small luxuries of daily life: taking a shower, using flushing toilets, eating at a table with silverware, sleeping in a comfy bed (that doesn’t deflate during the night), cooking real food. But it would not be the same adventure if we had all of that.

Grateful and proud. Happy and sad.
PCT you have my heart and sweat.

« I got clap at 702 » that’s what the sticker says to remind me of that moment.

Kennedy Meadows mark the end of the desert section in California and the beginning of the Sierras. A huge change of scenery that we are all waiting for.

I remember catching up with @juiceypopsicle just before the road walk to the General Store at the end of the day. Close to the porch I said to Juicey : « There is so many new people, I don’t feel like socializing » thinking that our friends would be at a different place. I genuinely forgot about the tradition of cheering all the hikers that were hiking in. Few seconds later I recognized @lerouxanthonioz who stood up and started to clap then everyone else followed. First I was embarrassed of the attention I was getting but didn’t last too long before feeling so much joy seeing all these familiar and friendly faces cheering us up. I ended being in a much better mood.

After almost two weeks of rest it was finally time to head back on trail. I have never felt so much enthusiasm than the day I was ready. Full of confidence I left Big Bear Lake by myself.

It was the first time I was completely alone and it felt great. It involved a lot of self talking and humming songs though. 🤪 I told myself that I would go slowly but the mental took over and pushed for more miles as long as my foot felt okay 🥾 | Pacific Crest Trail • April 2024

The journey cannot always be bright and shinny.

Need to have a few down moments where you question yourself & your body. Did I already reach my limit? Was I pushing too hard?

I have been on an emotional rollercoaster after injuring myself. Let me present you Posterior Tibial Tendinitis, my new best friend. It is never easy to have to stop & rest when you see everyone else continuing their path.

I tried my best to be patient during the recovery process, and I cannot be more grateful for all the hikers & staff I have met at @ith_big_bear you clearly made my days nicer.
