48 hours later and I still don’t really know what to say. I’ll try.

23 years ago, my parents brought me to a track to watch my brother for the first time. They allowed me to explore, raised me to be brave and taught me to always try my best!

16 years ago, BMX debuted at the Olympics and a dream was born.

9 years ago, I got told for the first of many times I should not try to persue this too seriously anymore.

8 years and 364 days ago, I moved to the south to prove ‘em wrong.

7 years ago, I got a chance to be guided by (and I might be biased) the best coach and traininggroup I ever accounted. And jumped my first ever SX first jump IN my first ever World Cup.

6.5 years ago I got my first ever contract and deal with the best gate company till date. The only 1️⃣ for a long time.

6 years ago, I got held and hugged when I couldn’t perceive my days bright, and paths were quite lost.

4 years ago, I got an opportunity to slow down and get the very start of understanding that a chimp is just a chimp. And that confidence is a process and can be practiced, just like anxiety and fear can be controlled.

3 years ago, I got cheered on and yelled from the top till bottom of the hill, to overscream the demons that were trying to stop me from coming back to jump again.

2 years ago I was given belief when I literally couldn’t see how I can afford to get to the races.

1 year ago I got helped out of bed when I couldn’t stand up for longer than a few minutes.

2 months ago, I got listened to when I felt heartbroken by letting my team down for bringing me into the best shape EVER but not being able to deliver under that pressure.

2 weeks ago, I got grounded and centred by one of the best meditation sessions I have been able to share in my life.

Just over 2 days ago, I woke up to a hype squad calling me that it was RACE FREAKING DAY and WE GOT THIS.

2 days ago WE won an OLYMPIC SILVER MEDAL.

What I am trying to say, I hope sharing this shows that people might not always believe in you, you might not be the most talented or strongest but keep going, detours can still lead to those peaks!

Long story short, it took me too long to find my rhythm these passed 2 weeks. Not the results I came for and that comes with some rough realities.

However, not acknowledging the immense steps made mentally and on bike from the start to the end of this trip would be an absolute waste.

So I am taking the lessons, use the fuel and we keep on building. LFG. taken in Beijing, China by @manonvnstra
