MANTA takes on space camp… jk it’s the North American Saxophone Alliance

We had the opportunity to perform at the conference yesterday and fit in a photo shoot as well 😏 you could say we are having a blast (NASA pun intended)

This is one of our last performances with this personnel of MANTA, enjoying every moment before Nuha heads to grad school to go do cool awesome things.

What a joy to play music with your friends!!

We are so thankful for the opportunity we got today to be coached in a masterclass by Grammy winning @imaniwinds

They had such wonderful insights, and we can’t wait to take some of their comments to really clean our playing in prep for our saxophone studio recital on Friday 4/19, in the Morrison Center recital hall. We hope to see you there! by @mantasaxquartet

Hi guys! I’m Minnie Aagard, the soprano sax in the MANTA quartet. I’m currently a freshman at Boise State studying music education. I’m an alto saxophone in Symphonic Winds and Blue Thunder Marching Band, and I play tenor for Girl Jazz at Boise State.

Outside of music, I love hanging out with friends and my family, playing pickleball, going to coffee shops, and hiking! I also played basketball for a lot of my life, and I had a ton of fun playing on an intramural basketball team this semester.

Being a part of MANTA has given me the opportunity to grow and challenge myself as a musician in such a small and exposed chamber setting. Most of all though, I’ve been so happy to get to know these awesome people I get to call my friends and get the privilege of making music with! by @mantasaxquartet

Hey y'all, my name is Nuha Akhtar and I am the alto saxophone player for MANTA Quartet.

I am a third year mechanical engineering major with a physics minor. I have also played alto in BSU's Symphonic Winds ensemble since freshman year!

Outside of music I love working on my NC Mazda Miata and taking it out for fun drives and I love riding my sportsbike and dirtbike! I also enjoy collecting vinyls, listening to all types of music, going to concerts, and playing tennis.

Although I am not a music major, being a part of the MANTA Quartet has been such an amazing way to continue my interests in saxophone and music through my college career. I couldn't be happier with the awesome musicians I get the chance to work and play with! by @mantasaxquartet

My name is Trey Freeman. I am the tenor saxophone player for the MANTA Quartet.

I was born and raised in Boise and I am currently in my third year studying music education at Boise State University. Outside of the quartet, I play tenor sax in the university's Symphonic Winds ensemble as well as the Blue Thunder Marching Band.

I spend a lot of my free time listening to all kinds of music and playing video games. I am also a big fan of the marching arts. When I get the chance during the summer, I love taking road trips with my friends to see DCI shows live.

To wrap things up I would like to say that being a part of this quartet has been the highlight of this semester. The quick growth and cohesiveness of this group has been an incredible experience. I'm super excited to see where things take us! by @mantasaxquartet

Hey everybody! In the next few days, we will be introducing all of the members of the MANTA saxophone quartet. My name is Andrew Schusterman. I am the bari sax player for the MANTA saxophone quartet. I am a third year Music Education major at Boise State University. Beyond my contribution to MANTA, I play in BSU’s Symphonic Winds Ensemble (bari), Jazz Orchestra (tenor), Blue Thunder Marching Band (tenor), and one of our jazz combos (alto). Some might say that that is just too much saxophone, but I say there is no such thing! Outside of music, I love to play video games and read comic books in my spare time. I am very proud to be a part of MANTA, and I am incredibly excited for the future of our quartet! by @mantasaxquartet

Hi everyone! The MANTA quartet has finally made it’s Instagram debut. We are a saxophone quartet based in Boise, Idaho, and we are all students at Boise State University. We recently got the opportunity to debut an original composition by Curtis Pinkham at Treefort Music Festival, and now are preparing to play in a masterclass with @imaniwinds
We’ve been thankful for the opportunities to share music in our community, and can’t wait for more! by @mantasaxquartet
