Wall within the buddhist #gandensumtselingmonastery in #Yunnan which is situated close to #香格里拉市 / #Shangri-La. This city’s outlook is suprisingly modern and at the same time strangely remniscient of tibetan culture. Recently, this high-altitude city has been renamed, receiving a more « touristy » name. Looking towards the #himalayas: A famous sunrise view in #Yunnan featuring #Kawagebo (6740m). Being part of the Meili Xue Shan mountain range, it is also the province’s highest elevation. Kawagebo is one of the most sacred mountains for Tibetan Buddhists and has not been climbed, which was also forbidden by local government in 2001 (wikipedia). After some tense moments in early morning, clouds cleared for a brief moment - accompanied with sudden, loud cheers from the locals! Admittedly this picture is heavily photoshopped as #fujivelvia would refuse to do its magic 😉🤭.
