MY MORE SERIES - More Blacks More Dogs, More Irish SERIES

For the next few weeks, as i feel moved, I'll be sharing some of the stunning pics taken by @ciaramcmullanmedia of a phrase that's been running round and round in my head ever since my hubby was gifted this T-Shirt!

So this is my More Blacks More Dogs More Irish photo shoot !!

These are our dogs and our mixed heritage family!

My hubby born in Northern Ireland and our Son Aaron born in Northern Ireland and Our Dogs Nala and Lola born in ireland and my self born Jamaican heritage with an Irish name , live in Northern Ireland for 30 years and an Irish citizen.

This series is a representation of the power and joy of acceptance of each other and our cultures, our collective communities. We've come a long way! Things have changed for the better, we've moved on outwardly. Have we really moved on inwardly?

Change must come from within to be at its most effective.

There's still more progress to make , there always will be. This series is a reminder of the positive things we need to strive for. No its not easy....its not easy for us.... but we got to keep trying, keep moving on for better.

We got to Keep taking those steps towards a better life. Take time to UNDERSTAND, then you'll see the things you FEAR can be OVERCOME. it's all about meaningful communication, empathy for each other & our needs.

E.g - Our Dogs are German shepherd's. So many are scared of them, but like humans, if you treat them with love and respect, they will love & respect you back 20 fold. They are cute as!! And mostly obedient 😀. They seek to understand your intention towards them . It's important to understand that! Make them know how much you love them and where the boundaries need to be so they understand that and life is much sweeter. FEAR disappears once you understand they love you.

UNDERSTANDING FROM ALL PERSPECTIVES IS KEY FOR REAL MEANINGFUL CHANGE.

These are all concepts that inspire the songs I write. Listen to new track moved on up! Link in bio

ONE LOVE x

Thank you for capturing the power of love. ❤️

THE STORY DIDN’T STOP THERE…

Black History Month isn’t just about the past. Black music is still evolving, breaking boundaries and making history right now.

At Soultrane, we’re on a mission to help create that future. As the first soul music festival of its kind on the island of Ireland, we’re building a movement that celebrates Music of Black Origin, brings people together and creates space for soul music and its incredible artists to thrive.

Over the years, we’ve welcomed phenomenal headliners, from @omar_lyefook , whose timeless classic There’s Nothing Like This has touched generations, to @iamterriwalker, the acclaimed R&B and soul singer-songwriter and former MOBO and Mercury Prize nominee.

But the story doesn’t stop with our headliners. It lives in the artists, musicians and communities shaping the sound of soul today.

This Black History Month, we’re celebrating Soultrane’s very own Queen of Soul, @manukahunney (@brown.siobhan ).

Since arriving in Northern Ireland in 1992, Siobhan has championed Music of Black Origin, creating space for soul, jazz and gospel in a landscape where these genres have often been underrepresented.

As founder and director of Soultrane Festival, frontwoman of Manukahunney and presenter of The Siobhan Brown Soul Show on BBC Radio Ulster, she continues to use music to connect communities, celebrate Black artistry and inspire change.

In 2024 and 2025, she brought Ireland’s first soul festival to life, showcasing internationally acclaimed artists alongside talent from across the island, the UK and the USA, while celebrating Black creatives and businesses.

Her achievements include becoming the first Black woman from Northern Ireland invited to celebrate Black History Month at 10 Downing Street in 2024.

From the pioneers who laid the foundations to the artists creating what comes next, Black music continues to shape our culture, our communities and our future.

At Soultrane, we’re proud to be part of that story.

The history is behind us.
The music is with us.
The future is ours to create.

POV WEEK continues into our weekend!
Have you had time for your SOUL this weekend?! If not, here are some dreamy clips taken from the perspective of one of our Block Party attendees — the very talented @nialldon, who captured our Culture Night festival in such a unique, nostalgic way we think.

What do you guys think?

Niall says:
“It was really great seeing so many people come out to support Soultrane and come together as a community. I found myself getting lost in the atmosphere and the music, which made capturing the night feel even more special. It was an amazing experience being able to document something that brought so many people together, and I am grateful I got to be a part of it.”

NEWS: SMALL REMINDER FOR THOSE ASKING:
Thursday 1st Oct — Second Nature.
Our monthly residency. First Thursday of each month. Come down, get a Soultrane cocktail (it’s a thing!), and check out what we do — not just annually, but regularly showcasing our vibes and our local artists here in Belfast.

We can’t wait to see you there, fam. taken in Oh Yeah Music Centre by @manukahunney

NEXT UP in our soul-centred lineup THIS FRIDAY 18th are our very own @manukahunney and @silkandsoul44 !

Sing it with me!

“THREE DAYS TO GO!
Our focus is SOUL!”

We’ve celebrated the devotion of Gospel, the honesty of Blues and the freedom of Jazz… now we arrive at the heartbeat of Music of Black Origin; SOUL, the identity, foundation and feeling at the centre of Soultrane Festival.

Taking that vibe to our Block Party stage at @ohyeahcentre this FRIDAY, our first Soul Act is Manukahunney, led by Siobhan Brown - Northern Ireland’s Queen of Soul. Award-winning vocalist, BBC Radio Ulster presenter, Soultrane Festival founder and fierce champion of soul, jazz and MOBO, Siobhan has shared stages with Omar, Terri Walker, Natasha Watts and supported Martha Reeves & The Vandellas. THIS FRIDAY, she’s bringing the FIRE!

Joining the celebration is Silk & Soul, who made a powerful debut at Derry Jazz Festival in May 2026. Michael Samuels; classically trained baritone and former Riverdance lead singer and Paul Brown; Belfast Has Talent 2024 finalist and Motown Sensations vocalist, bring together Soul, Jazz, Motown, Swing and Reggae in one feel-good, high-energy sound.

This CULTURE NIGHT event is Irish/NI history in the making! So pull up and experience what soul REALLY means in action.

From church pews to street corners, Motown to neo-soul, soul has carried the heartbeat of communities, shaping music, dance, fashion, politics and culture.

Soultrane wants that for YOU - to experience, celebrate and share this rich history together.

Come feel the passion, performance and connection that keeps soul alive in our community.

✨ MINNIE’S MONDAYS ✨

Mondays at Soultrane belong to Minnie. 📸❤️

Meet Minnie @dixieh42, our Soultrane Photographer & Content Catcher, and the eyes behind so many of the moments you see from us.

Every Monday, we’ll be sharing the Soultrane story through her lens, from rehearsals and performances to the special moments happening behind the scenes.

So, what did Minnie catch this week? 👀📸

It’s been a busy one! Our Director @siobhanbrown was in Dublin rehearsing with @manukahunney ahead of their performance at @melabelfast yesterday.

There’s so much work and preparation that happens before an audience sees the finished performance, and Minnie was there to capture the journey.

It was also a real honour for our Soultrane director to be part of Mela’s 20th birthday celebrations. Their commitment to bringing people and cultures together is something we really admire and a great example for Soultrane as we continue to grow. ❤️

And September is already looking busy…

🎶 THIS THURSDAY We’re back at @secondnaturebelfast for our monthly residency with @drewedghill. Come catch a vibe!

🥾 SUNDAY 6 SEPTEMBER We’re heading up Cave Hill with our Soultrane Supporters for our fundraising walk, raising funds towards our FREE Culture Night Block Party on Friday 18 September.

❤️ Want to support us? Hit the fundraising link in our bio.

See you next Monday for another week…
