Richmond Film Network founder Lisa Giles and screenwriter Kelsey Nerrie joined @niamcmillannews at WRIC 8News to talk about the Richmond Film Network Screenwriters’ Lab—a space where writers receive thoughtful, collective feedback designed to strengthen their scripts and move them one step closer to production.

Because sometimes the best way to see what your script needs is to have other storytellers around the table tell you ✍️🎥

Meet the Script Supervisor📝 @manuscriptable

Kelsey Nerrie is an award-winning filmmaker based in Richmond, VA. Her career spans twenty years, both in and out of the film industry, to include seven years launching and managing a localization team at Deluxe. She has been an in-house and freelance script consultant for much of that time.

In filmmaking, Kelsey does not tie herself down to a single genre but instead aims to explore the hard truths of motherhood -- and of being human -- in ways that will make an audience think. This time last week I screened "Repercussion(s)" at a women-focused film festival in Buffalo New York called Valkyrie. @valkyriefilmfest

At the awards ceremony, I accepted the Best Dramatic Short award!

Thank you to @kaelin_lamberson and @tamarlamberson who organize this fantastic festival giving voice to women filmmakers. Thank you to my new contacts and friends in the film community. And thank you, of course, to every woman who helped me make "Repercussion(s)" a success. It is truly humbling to see how it is resonating with audiences.

For a film that was filmed entirely in Richmond with a *nearly* 100% local crew, it feels like a Big Win.

In 2019, I wrote a short script and called it "Repercussions."

I wrote it to explore my thoughts on societal expectations around parenthood and revenge.

After I became a mother, I refined it. Because I now understood some of the relentless thoughts a mother has around the scariest idea in the world: that something terrible could happen to my son.

The question I wanted to explore was: if the worst were to happen, would I be able/willing to take revenge, if somehow the opportunity arose? And should that even be an option?

That is how "Repercussions" became "Repercussion(s)".

I hope the final film sparks something in viewers: a thought they keep returning to, a strong feeling of hope, even just more questions! I've had such amazing conversations with audiences after they've watched my film and my only hope is for this to keep happening!

Right now, you can watch "Repercussion(s)" as part of the @liftoffglobalnetwork NY Lift-Off, Judges' Select Shorts. 🔗 to the festival programme in my bio. You'll have access to 100+ found through July 26th.

Vote for "Repercussion(s)" then reach out to let me know what you thought! I truly welcome all feedback.

Happy watching!

Thank you to @fxbgfilmfest for an amazing weekend of film, friends, and connection!

I was thrilled to represent @repercussionsfilm2025 at the Women in Film block on Day 3. Each and every film in this block was stunning and oh-so-unique. The female perspective is so valuable and so needed in this industry. I had goosebumps the whole time!

The Q&As, panels, socials, and workshops made this festival unforgettable. I'm happy to say I made valuable connections and friendships here at the festival.

Can't wait for next year!

I'm pleased to announce another festival selection for "Repercussion(s)": Valkyrie International Film Festival!

This female-driven festival selects only those films directed by women bringing much-needed attention to a small but mighty portion of the film industry.

Thank you VIFF! See you in Buffalo, NY in August.

What a complete whirlwind of a festival weekend! To say I was surprised to win an award is a complete understatement. My heart is still racing to think of walking down those stairs to accept the award for Best Drama.

Thanks to the phenomenal team behind the scenes of @atlantafilmseries, @7stagesatl, and @javalords for an amazing production and setting. Special shoutouts to Kelsey, Amy, and Hayden: I couldn't have asked for friendlier or more welcoming people to spend the weekend with. Your warmth, support, and passion are endless!

To all the filmmakers I met, briefly or for deep dive conversations, thank you! It's a vulnerable thing to do what we do. Thank you for making it a safe space to do so! And for all your kind words about "Repercussion(s)" too.

It goes without saying I would have had a blast anyway, but the award was the cherry on top! I'm so honored.

POSTER REVEAL!

Thank you to my husband @tenttoagree for the design and to @onlyrjaymolina and Erica Fox for your graphic design expertise and advice!

I wanted this poster to hint at the darkness of the film without giving too much away. The focus on the answering machine alerts the audience of how pivotal that piece is without giving much away. Shout out to @brperkinson for both production design and SFX!

Can you spot the easter egg?

This is the image we will be using on our festival postcards. Come get your very own at Indie Short Film Festival this weekend.

See you in Charlottesville at our premiere TONIGHT!
