Hamburg N1 aftermath ✨ — I’m in Vienna, about to head home. We were meant to see Taylor for a last time this summer, this sparkling summer, that had given me so much joy and a new feeling of community. A safe space where I could wear what I wanted without being judged. Entire cities transformed and boy it did them good. People smiling more at each other, looking out for each other, sharing bracelets and memories.
—
And then some brainwashed fucker tries to ruin it. Wants to kill as many people as possible - of course mostly women and queer people - for reasons I can’t understand even if I tried to. And I don’t want to. Why does society hate women so much?
—
But Swifties are a resilient bunch. People still gathered, sung and shared tons of bracelets. Wore their sparkling outfits and so much merch. “Fuck the patriarchy” and “Who’s afraid of little old me?” were sung particularly loudly. And Vienna did everything to help, offered free admission to museums, meals and plenty of love.
—
I’ve seen Taylor before. But people who know me also know how much “lasts” mean to me. How much I need good closures to episodes. This was gonna be the last hurrah before I have nothing left to look forward to. Of course it was right to cancel. Of course I’d rather be here, unharmed. But I’ll still grieve.
