One of the most special puppies from our litter was the very first to be adopted. Jade, now known as Clover, went to her forever home with our friends. From her very first week, Jade stole our hearts. As the littlest puppy in the litter, she gave us quite a scare when she lost weight on her daily weigh-ins on day 2 in our home. But Jade is a fighter. She kept pushing forward, growing stronger, and holding her own alongside her littermates at feeding time. Then one early morning in May, I woke up at 3:30 a.m. to check on the puppies and found Jade having a seizure. After a second seizure, she was brought in for bloodwork and we continued to monitor her closely. The bloodwork showed no obvious signs for her seizures. Recently, Clover experienced two additional seizures, and her family rushed her to the emergency vet. After further testing, they received a diagnosis: epilepsy. While it’s not the answer anyone was hoping for, having an answer means Clover’s family can move forward with a treatment plan and give her the support she needs. We know she’ll continue to face every challenge the same way she always has. With strength and a sassy fighting spirit. We’re sending so much love to Clover and her family as they navigate this journey together. ❤️ Thank you @jessica.def for making my dream come true of having a friend adopt one of our grandpuppies and giving us the opportunity to see her grow up and live the very best life with you. Today kicks off this year’s Pack Challenge for @muddypawsrescuenyc! 🐾 In the spring, we had the privilege of fostering Ellie and her 5 puppies, and watching them grow, thrive, and find loving homes was one of the most rewarding experiences we’ve ever had. This year for the Pack Challenge, Andrew and I made a deal: if I raise $5,000, we’ll open our home this fall to foster another mom and her litter. 💙 Every donation—big or small—helps Muddy Paws Rescue save more dogs and brings us one step closer to welcoming another family into our home. I’m not going to lie. Working in animal welfare isn’t easy. There are Saturdays when I come home from an adoption event too exhausted to do much of anything (friends know this story a little too well). There are days I log off my computer emotionally drained after seeing the number of dogs who still need help. But if there’s one thing that always renews my hope, it’s this community. It’s the volunteer who shows up every Saturday because they know one more set of hands can change a dog’s day. It’s the foster who says “yes” to the shy, shut-down shelter dog who just needs a safe place to land. It’s the adopter who opens their home. And it’s people like you, who donate what they can to keep this mission moving forward. Rescue isn’t powered by one person; it’s powered by thousands of people making small acts of kindness every single day. Together those acts become second chances. Whether you donate (link is in my profile or send me a message), share our fundraiser, or simply cheer us on, thank you for being part of this community. You remind me every day why this work is worth it.
