What an honor to have @chefarmermatthew representing Georgia organic and regenerative farmers alongside @repdavidscott who is taking the message that regenerative agriculture is the way forward to Washington. Bad agricultural policy got us into this mess and good agricultural policy can get us out. @rodaleinstitute #regenerativeagriculture by @manyfoldfarm

How we treat people and how we treat the land are linked. There is no amount of forgiveness I can find for my predecessors who cared for the land I now attend. I say care, but what they did was abuse. They extracted fertility. They planted cotton here and left nothing behind for the future except thick, red hard pan. They were of the generations that used people. They extracted labor from Black bodies and extracted fertility from soil. They transformed that energy into dollars for themselves and returned nothing to the people nor the land that was the bedrock of their wealth. A greedy mind is not selective. It takes from everything it touches. It is a poverty because it is need without end. It is always at odds and never at evens— never in partnership; unable to share. The undoing of the greedy creed of whiteness and extractive agricultural practices must end. Regenerative agriculture is about the restoration of land: building soil while taking what we need from it. It must also be about the regeneration of people. It must also include the restoration of our relationships with each other so that those who do the work of providing food and fiber for us all are justly rewarded and enriched by it. We must cultivate better, healthier, happier, and whole human beings out of this land. #regenerativeagriculture #regenerativepeople #restorationagriculture #blacklivesmatter #blackfarmersmatter by @manyfoldfarm

First research plot! This pasture has been rotationally grazed by our sheep for the past 10 years. As a result, the organic matter is above 4%! Can’t wait to see how the crops slotted for this little corner of the farm do! #breakingground #organicmatter #oragnicmattermatters #livestock #managementintensivegrazing #southeastRRC @rodaleinstitute by @manyfoldfarm

Lots of folks seem to be appreciating the benefits of a de-centralized food system lately. I really hope it sticks long after this pandemic is over. It is not only healthier for our bodies, soils, and planet— it is a more secure, more resilient system. Our supper tonight features @whiteoakpastures beef, @manyfoldfarm eggs, cream from a friend’s cows, and all the fruits, herbs, and veggies from @rodgersgreensandroots and our personal garden. #safeeatingislocaleating #realfoodsecurity #knowyourfarmer #growyourownfood #growwhereyouareplanted by @manyfoldfarm

The world may be in a strange moment for us, but these two think everything is right and well. #lambing2020 by @manyfoldfarm

There’s a lot of big, scary stuff going on in the world right now. There is also some very cool stuff happening underneath it all. We’re making plans and breaking new ground as we speak. As soon as the dust settles around #covid_19 Georgia is going to officially have a research station devoted to providing farmers with resources and education for Organic and Regenerative farming specific to the Southeast! #somethingtolookforwardto #regenerativeagriculture #organicfarming #georgiafarms #thegrasswillbegreenersoon @rodaleinstitute by @manyfoldfarm
