Since 1824, the Borough has been soul of Newtown. At the heart of the Borough, of course, in the middle of Main Street, is our famous American flag.

Our logo symbolizes the American flag as an integral part of our history, and our future.

The red and white stripes are a nod to our patriotic past – a pristine American elegance. Yet, they are moving up, and the angles they create are pointing forward.

The five stripes represent the neighborhoods of Newtown: the Borough, Botsford, Dodgingtown, Hawleyville, and Sandy Hook.

The geometry is in the proper ratio of the American flag, and handsomely designed to resemble an italic “N.”

The five stars reinforce our location in the center of town, and recall why so many people in Newtown give directions with, “Starting at the Flag."

Quite a bit has been happening at Edmond Town Hall, our historic theater in Newtown, CT. Rock concerts. Spectacular dance recitals. A thrilling lineup of drive-in films. Moving theatrical performances. And, in-between the private parties, engaging speakers, and sporting events, a new executive director and the entire team at ETH have been planning even more engaging events. Oh, we also designed this new logo. Wuddya think? We look forward to revealing everything that comes along with it as Edmond Town Hall announces all the unexpected experiences that make it such a premier entertainment destination. by @map.agency

To build a reputation like Karin’s takes time. Through countless creative collaborations and thoughtfully designed memorials, Karin Sprague Stone Carvers has become synonymous with bespoke monuments in New England and around the world. The work speaks for itself - each monument, cenotaph, and shared memorial is a stunning work of art - but Karin’s brand is actually based on the conversations and relationships she’s developed with families looking for original ways to remember their loved ones. The new logo for Karin Sprague Stone Carvers was designed to leverage years of brand equity built on Karin’s genuine interest and curiosity about the lives her monuments are designed to for. In an industry overcome with automation, Karin is genuine, insightful, and considerate. Those values are now being passed down to her daughter, Kristin, who will represent Karin Sprague Stone Carvers with the same careful attention to detail. It’s that attention to detail we wanted to represent in the new logo, so that it too will last for years, as if carved in stone. by @map.agency

Excited to share a community project we’re incredibly proud of — the Newtown Cultural District! After a nearly year-long proposal process, Newtown was officially announced as Connecticut’s 17th state-designated Cultural District. What makes it truly one-of-a-kind is that it’s the only Cultural District in CT with three distinct subdistricts: Main Street, Sandy Hook, and Fairfield Hills.
That insight became the creative foundation for our brand approach: Great Things Come in Threes. The simple triangle is symbolic of the three subdistricts. When pieced together in an abstract way — representing many creative voices — a capital “N” comes to represent one unique Newtown community.
It was a privilege to support such a dedicated group of people who made this district a reality:
Laura Lerman, Merredith Christos, Rhonda Cullens, Bill Glass, Jen Guman, Betsy Paynter, Sandra Rasmussen, and John Voket. Lisa Scails, of the Cultural Alliance of Western CT, was a critical leader and advocate throughout the process. This town is run by volunteers, and there is no group of Newtowners I’d rather work with to drive this vision forward. More to come!

Live New Wellness is the physical therapy and performance training practice for active adults and adolescents that want more than a quick fix. It’s this long-term, holistic approach to well-being that drove our brand identity design. Focusing on personalized wellness, the entire system is upscale, organic, and timeless. The logos, type choices, colors, and brand patterns are all thoughtfully designed to be warm, welcoming, and personalized, just like the enhanced care that patients receive. The attention to detail is meant to last as long as the wellness journey - a lifetime. by @map.agency

Some printed goodies arrived in the office for a very special day coming up in Newtown. (It’s our Labor Day parade, and it’s kind of a big deal.) If you’re marching, watching, or just there for the candy, stop by the Newtown Meeting House and check out all that’s happening at our town’s original gathering spot. by @map.agency

My favorite role as a creative director is that of a stand-in. Can you believe it? I get all these portraits and @bread_and_beast never charges any extra! by @map.agency

My favorite part about winning awards from the CT Art Director’s Club is the duality of the hardware. Thanks to the @thecadc for thoughtful, and sustainable, new bookends! This year was especially rewarding, as I submitted a personal piece that put myself, and family, at the center of attention. Self-promotion, as you can imagine, is somewhat nerve-wracking for somebody that prefers to be behind the camera, and whose art is usually unsigned. Congrats to all the other winners this year — While I wasn’t able to attend, I heard it was a great show! by @map.agency

At the heart of Newtown Village Cemetery’s new brand is the Corinthian column. It’s a timeless symbol of strength, endurance, and aspiration. In ancient Roman times, it stood as a connection between the earthly and the divine, making it the perfect anchor for a place that has stood as a sentinel in Newtown since 1860.
From there, every element was designed with intention:
🎨 A brand palette that visually connects the earth to the skies.
📷 Photography that captures the genuine beauty of the monuments, the cremation gardens, and the landscapes that make this place so peaceful.
🌿 Brand patterns that carry the column’s classical spirit across every communication touchpoint.
Beyond the visual identity, we brought the brand to life across print and digital — from business cards and sympathy cards to a fully designed and developed website at newtownvillagecemetery.org, where families can learn about services, explore the property, and connect with the cemetery.
It was a privilege to work on something this meaningful. Newtown Village Cemetery has been a cornerstone of this community for generations, and now it has a brand worthy of its legacy. by @map.agency
