Get to know @mapekeace - the producer behind our next release, out on Friday 16th Oct! He spills the beans on his all-time favourite UK Funky track, interests outside of making beats, his dream collab, musical inspirations and more ✨

Presenting FA011 - La Sombra by @mapekeace, out on 16 October ✨

Funky Adjacent welcomes Southeast London-based sonny makepeace to the fold with a three-track EP. He’s part of a new generation of young producers pushing UK Funky forward.

sonny’s distinctive sound has been shaped by his childhood spent immersed in soundsystem culture at festivals.

Fresh Soil is an emotive, groove-filled combination of vocal chops, bouncy log drums, layered melodies and funky percussion.

Spida Plant became an outlet for learning to let go. It layers jazzy chords, shimmering arps and crisp shakers over a bleepy bassline and full-bodied sub bass.

Mango Loco channels complex feelings and pools many of sonny makepeace’s influences, fusing swung percussion, hopeful chords, ambient textures, and an enveloping, speed garage-style bassline you immediately want to hear on a soundsystem.

Get Mango Loco now if you pre-order on Bandcamp 🥭🔗 by @mapekeace

Funky Adjacent turns 4 in July (where has the time gone)?! 😮 For this year’s shindig, we’re spotlighting artists shaping the next chapter of the label, inviting some of our 2026 producers down to soundtrack the night.

Nadī promises percussive pressure, enchanting vocals, and bouncy basslines. KTM brings skippy drums, melodic UK funky rhythms, and selections shaped by years immersed in soundsystem and club culture. Sonny Makepeace represents the funky new gen, supplying his signature blend of bounce, breakbeats, and soulful melody.

And of course, the Funky Adjacent residents will be delving into UK funky, global club sounds, broken rhythms, and other percussive delights.

Last year’s edition was so special and we can’t wait to celebrate four rewarding years with you all this summer! Love to everyone who has supported the journey so far ❤️ Early birds on RA :) by @mapekeace

Joining Scruz tonight in Brixton, we have one of South East London’s most exciting up and comers, sonny makepeace.

Pushing the boundaries of House and Garage, his production contains a myriad of flavours, taking influence from UK Funky, Amapiano, Grime, Techno and more.

For tonight, he told us to ‘’expect a set filled with unreleased originals, old gems and a promise of nothing but bounce and groove’’

Funky Adjacent #39

In December @latec0merdj brought two esteemed selectors in to see out the new year in style 😎

You may recognise @chaitu_909, responsible for the anthemic 'South London Percussion Function' from our VA2 comp

While @mapekeace is a producer we've had our eyes on for a while. It’s certainly not the last time we intend to collab with him 👀 by @mapekeace
