❄️ MAPLE GRIND — CHRISTMAS WINTER WHITE OUT CLASSIC 🏀 15 PLAYERS PER AGE GROUP The Winter White Out is built around skill development, mentorship, preparation, competition, and championship basketball. Welcome COACH JAIDEN FRANCIS Player Development Specialist | Founder, Think Different Training Coach Jaiden Francis is a respected basketball development specialist with experience training athletes at every level. A member of Brampton City Prep since its inaugural season, he also serves as a Player Development Specialist at York University, helping athletes refine their skills and decision-making at the U SPORTS level. With more than four years of experience at the Team Canada National Training Centre, Coach Jaiden has trained professional and NCAA Division I athletes, including players competing in the NBA, WNBA, and professional leagues overseas. Jelani Matthew | Coach & Player Development Trainer Jelani Matthew brings professional playing experience and an extensive player-development background to the Maple Grind Christmas Winter White Out Classic. A former professional basketball player, Jelani competed in the English Basketball League with Newham Neptunes (N.A.S.S.A.), where his résumé included a National Shield Gold and National Cup Bronze. After his playing career, Jelani developed a strong reputation as a basketball trainer and founded I Can Basketball Training. His player-development résumé includes working with high-level professional and national-team talent such as Devoe Joseph, Myck Kabongo, Negus Webster-Chan, Kayla Alexander, Sami Hill, and Duane Notice. He has also been promoted as a Canadian National Team trainer who has worked with elite professional-level athletes. Jelani’s experience as both a former pro and respected trainer gives young athletes the opportunity to learn from someone who understands the game from multiple levels. His approach emphasizes skill development, discipline, basketball IQ, confidence, and preparing players to compete at higher levels. Congratulations to Soren Nicholson on his commitment to St. Jude’s Men’s Prep Academy! 🏀🍁 Soren was one of the true standouts at the Maple Grind Combine. What impressed us most wasn’t only his talent—it was his all-around game, leadership, attention to detail, and ability to take coaching and immediately apply it on the floor. At 6’4”, 175 lbs, Soren has excellent size at the point guard position. He impacts the game as a scorer, defender, rebounder and playmaker, while showing the leadership and basketball IQ needed to run a team. We believe he has the tools and potential to develop into a Division I-level college guard. His résumé already speaks for itself. In 2025, Soren was a varsity starter wearing #5, earning 1st Team All-Conference, Team Captain, All-Star, PPG Leader, Defensive Team honors and Honorable Mention All-State, while helping his team finish 2nd in the conference. He has also earned defensive-team recognition throughout his high school career. On the club circuit, Soren has competed with Genesis Basketball / Genesis East in the EYBL Champions League, and after helping his team capture the Canadian National Invitational Tournament (CNIT) championship, he earned Tournament MVP honors. The biggest thing we saw at Maple Grind: he listens, learns and applies. That quality, combined with his size, skill set and competitive mentality, gives him a very high ceiling. 🏀 AUSTIN CAESAR — COLLEGE COACHES, PAY ATTENTION Austin Caesar is one of the most explosive players in the senior market this season. Coming off a successful season with @polarisprepmbb he carried that momentum into the AAU summer, putting together multiple 30-point performances throughout league and tournament play. Austin is a true two-way guard who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. He can knock down the three, pull up from mid-range, create his own shot, and attack downhill with speed and power. One of his biggest weapons is his ability to come off ball screens at full speed, make reads and put immediate pressure on the defense. But what separates him is his MOTOR. He picks up full court, creates steals, competes every possession and rarely takes a play off. Combine that motor with his basketball IQ, scoring ability and athleticism, and you have a player who can make a difference at the next level. Austin Caesar is a college hooper.
