Thrilled to have one of our clients special projects featured in the September issue of @houseandhomemag available on news stands now. It was a labour of love and one of mine and our clients true passions to restore this beloved Chester landmark. The “Sheet Anchor” house c 1765 has been brought back to its former glory and was recently recognized with the Nova Scotia Built Heritage Award for restoration @heritagetrustns . Thank you to our clients, the @blueprint_construction team, @vacipainting , @marknarsansky & my team at @philipmitchelldesign and to @lyndareevesdesign , @stacybegg and the House & Home team for featuring it, Kelvin Browne for writing the story and @staceysnaps for your great photos that capture this beautiful home. Pick up a copy and have a look at this wonderful old beauty. #houseandhomemag #blueprintconstruction #philipmitchelldesign by @maplebirdshop

A New Chapter for Maplebird

Thank you for yet another wonderful weekend. We continue to be humbled by the enthusiasm, kindness, and support we have received. Every conversation and every piece that has found a new home has made this journey more rewarding than we ever imagined.

As we restock and thoughtfully put the rooms back together, our vision for Maplebird continues to evolve in exciting ways. Rather than maintaining traditional retail hours, we will be open by appointment or by chance as we prepare our next design launch.

Maplebird was never meant to be a conventional shop. We see it as a living design laboratory—an ever-changing series of rooms and collections that are periodically refreshed and reimagined. We are also excited about the possibility of hosting design evenings, art talks, and other gatherings inspired by Philip’s design philosophy and our shared love of collecting and creating beautiful homes.

What has delighted us most is seeing how people respond to collections in use rather than objects simply displayed on shelves. One guest purchased two antique blue-and-white orchid containers because she loved how they were styled on the coffee table. Although she usually prefers things arranged in threes, and we even had two more available, she said loved how just the two looked in the room. Moments like these remind us that creating a home is about atmosphere, storytelling, discovering new ideas, and the joy of living with things you love.

We are incredibly excited about where Maplebird is heading and look forward to sharing each new chapter with you.

What can we say? Thank you hardly seems enough.

The response to the opening of Maplebird has been beyond anything we imagined. We loved every conversation and every opportunity to share stories with fellow collectors, designers, and kindred spirits who share our passion for artwork, antiques, drapery, custom pillows, china, pottery, and all the beautiful things that make a house feel personal.

Our first curated collection flew off the shelves and walls, and we are incredibly grateful for your enthusiasm and support. This week, we have been busy wrapping, packing, and delivering purchases from an unforgettable opening weekend, so this weekend we will be reopening on Saturday June 20 at 11 am.

Maplebird was always intended to be more than a shop—it is an experience and a celebration of living with collections and the things you love.

Thank you for making our opening weekend so memorable. As always, we are open by chance or by appointment. Send us a DM or email us at info@philipmitchelldesign.com to arrange a visit.
