Although I decided to put getting my midwifery certificate on hold I still felt it was so important to celebrate receiving my MSN and becoming a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner! I had the absolute pleasure of picking up my second masters degree this Tuesday and have been smiling ear to ear at it ever since! As of August 16th, 2024 I have successfully completed my Masters of Science in Nursing for Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner 👩🏾‍⚕️🩺💗 I am so grateful that god has guided me this far and he continues to give me the strength necessary to continue forward 🙌🏾

While this is such an AMAZING accomplishment the journey is far from over! My next step is to pass the board certification for WHNP 🤞🏾📚, successfully complete ONLY two more semesters for my post-degree certificate in Midwifery, & pass the board certification to become a Certified Nurse Midwife 🤰🏻👶🏻🧑‍🧑‍🧒

My only wish is that the two women who raised me my mother & grandmother were here to see it but I know they’re both watching over me every step of the way 🕊️❤️‍🩹

14 transformative weeks.
2 seven-week Maternal & Fetal Health courses.
1 grateful nursing professor 🤗

As of today, I can officially say I have successfully completed my very first semester as a part-time college professor at Case Western Reserve University. This journey has been filled with so much joy, growth, and learning. I am truly grateful for every moment.

To the nursing faculty who supported me throughout the semester, THANK YOU. Your mentorship, guidance, and encouragement have helped me grow into a stronger, more confident educator.

To my clinical and lab instructors who showed up every week and poured knowledge, patience, and passion into each student, I am forever indebted to you.

Sharing my love and enthusiasm for the incredible world of obstetrics has been the highlight of my year. I am so proud of the students and the work we accomplished together.

I look forward to what 2026 holds…more teaching, more learning, and advancing my journey in caring for the women of Cleveland, Ohio as a dedicated and passionate Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.

This weekend was amazing! I had the opportunity to attend the Ohio ACNM Midwifery Forward event as a Student Nurse Midwife and present my findings on the barriers surrounding access to fertility care & treatment in Ohio. It was such an honor to be surrounded by so many wonderful midwives from all over Ohio!! To my lovely classmates who always ease my anxiety, support me through anything and push me to keep moving forward I love you & can’t wait to walk across that stage with you next year 😘❤️ taken in Hilton Garden Inn Findlay by @mar.slay

10 months ago I started my first nursing job! I was one of three new grads to be hired into a bridge program between MedSurg and MacDonald Women’s Hospital. My dream even since I was a little girl was to always be a doctor as I got older I specifically wanted to be an OB/GYN. However, after undergrad I realized that my personality and heart was directly aligned with that of a nurse. I tell people nursing chose me because it did and we’ve been in love ever since💗 A few weeks ago my unit got the news that we would be shutting down for reasons out of our control. For me it’s still bittersweet on one hand I get to transition into women’s health which is the area I always dreamed of being in sooner than I expect, but on the other hand I’m going to be saying goodbye to the BEST nurses, nursing assistants, doctors and nurse practitioners I have ever met! Each person at this facility has played a role in molding me into the nurse I am today! Even though it’s been hard I believe every single moment was 100% worth it. I took so many wins and also some losses along this journey but I will forever take with me the knowledge, skills and experience I have learned from this unit wherever I go. I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a single thing about my nursing career journey because it is MINE and I LOVE it. I remember this day like it was yesterday, I was getting off the greyhound bus coming home from college. I remember pulling up to the station searching for you and feeling so sad because I didn’t see you. For a second I thought you forgot about me but as soon as I got off the bus you ran up to me and gave me the tightest hug I ever had. We both instantly started crying our eyes out because we missed each other so much! I would give anything in this world to hug you just one more time 🥺 1.14.20 I lost the only person who ever made me feel whole 💔 I am forever broken, I miss you & love you beyond words Trudy! by @mar.slay
