It was so immensely powerful to be present for the return of Céline Dion to the stage in Paris. Seeing Céline reconnect with her craft and her fans, and watching her emotions evolve from nervously reserved to reclaiming her joy and power left us all in tears. The stage that unfolded like a post-modern Birth of Venus in austere simplicity was the perfect backdrop for all the emotions that shone through Céline the entire time, and in a word, wow 🤯

Because on this 250th anniversary of the United States of America it’s important to examine the core document of our founding, here’s to some excerpts from the Declaration of Independence beyond the opening lines that remain relevant today.

It’s time channel the courage and vision of those who came before us, and reflect, resist and restore the dream.

Because June came on strong and today was the moment to take stock of what happened so far, here’s to beach swims, surviving hot runs, resurrecting the Gold Shoes of a bygone era in 2007, Pride parties, tarot reflections, Montreal summer streetscapes, AND some feminist reading with a relaxing beer on a rainy day with a bookmark from a bygone era in 2010 by @marancio

Because sometimes the summer heat comes quickly and can be a bit overwhelming and a little less nice and easy at the beginning than desired, here’s to the moments and things that help cool down: flowers, pride pins from @royale_ginette and pride-y sidewalk chalk art, some injecting play into sterile work spaces and having folks participate, sunny terraces and cheeky, chilly lake swims with some jazz to boot, 🌈, conferences in quirky urban places and figuring out how to provide public transit to those who really really need it and a mediocre but improvable rhubarb, lemon, ginger gin and tonic by @marancio

Because life is worth celebrating and sharing, and because my long arms make for excellent selfie sticks, here’s to a week of adventuring to visit friends in Albi, Toulouse and Bilbao, celebrate a family wedding in Belgium, make a little stop in Bayonne for good measure, and enjoy trains, planes, cafe visits, drag shows, pinxos, fine arts and more ✈️ 🚊 ❤️ by @marancio

I’ve had this cactus since at least 2018, which is already a miracle since it started its life on Court St in Carroll Gardens and has since traveled and grown with me everywhere else I have lived. It usually flowers in November, and on occasion when I’m extra lucky will also flower around now. This year’s bonus bloom is extra special because it is only where my head tends to land at night - a special goodnight and good morning gift from a loyal and loving companion after all these years together 🌱❤️ by @marancio
