#PatriziaSandrettoReRebaudengo for Venice Biennale Portraits.

Founder of @fondazionesandretto Re Rebaudengo, whose new Venetian home on the island of San Giacomo marks a significant new chapter in the foundation's activity.

Located in the northern lagoon between Murano and Burano, the island has been restored from a state of abandonment and transformed into a space for exhibitions, artistic production and residencies.

In this conversation, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo reflects on the history of the project, the challenges of the restoration, and the role she envisions for the island within the foundation's wider network of venues in Turin, Guarene and Madrid — as a place where contemporary art, ecology and cultural exchange can coexist.

@ilgiornaledellarte spoke with @marasartore and @teresa.sartore of Lightbox for its ongoing interview series, “How Is Art Communicated Today?”, which invites leading figures in Italian cultural communication – press officers, communication directors, and consultants working with museums, foundations, institutions, galleries, and major events – to reflect on how their profession is changing.

Lightbox has never approached its work as a traditional press office, but rather as a consultancy and communication agency specialising in contemporary art. Drawing on more than twenty years of experience across contemporary art and cultural projects, Mara and Teresa discuss communication not as something that comes at the end of a project, but as an integral part of its development. The interview also touches on the value of context, editorial judgement, and a close reading of the contemporary art world – not simply to make a project visible, but to understand what makes it worth paying attention to in the first place.

#IntiLigabue for Venice Biennale Portraits

Founder of @ligabuefoundation — established in 2016 in memory of his father, the researcher and collector #GiancarloLigabue — Inti spent a decade staging exhibitions across Venice's historic palazzi before opening Palazzo delle Arti e delle Culture: housed in his own home, #PalazzoErizzoLigabue on the Canal Grande, where ancient artefacts from cultures around the world enter into dialogue with contemporary works.

Here he reflects on the meeting point between past and present at the heart of the foundation's vision, its artist residency programme and the exhibitions planned for the years ahead — and on Venice itself, its current renaissance, and his belief that the city must become a place of artistic production, not only of display.

Making myself at home
24 September 2026 — 18 February 2027

For Vetrina#18, Mara Sartore invites Barbara Prenka to present Making myself at home, an existing work reconfigured specifically for the Vetrina in collaboration with @lightboxpublishing

The work originally measures 450 cm in length. Here, it has to fit within a space just 227 cm wide and 30 cm deep. So it folds, turns back on itself, and adapts.

It fits — but it can no longer be seen in its entirety at once.

The result is a quiet negotiation between what we bring with us and what we encounter: something changes shape, something remains hidden, something persists without being immediately visible.

Not necessarily becoming something else.
Just finding a way to exist within conditions we did not choose.

The work was created during Barbara Prenka’s 2025 residency at @lottozero

Thank you, Barbara, for Making Myself at Home.

A blanket is one of the simplest forms of shelter. It holds warmth, memory and care. It protects us, but it can also travel with us — carrying something of home wherever we go.

In Barbara’s work, the blanket becomes an intimate metaphor for adaptation and transformation: the way we learn to inhabit new places and circumstances, reshaping ourselves in relation to what we encounter while holding on to what we carry within us.

Perhaps making ourselves at home is precisely this: not remaining unchanged, but finding new forms of belonging through care, connection and transformation.

Grazie Barbara, for such a deeply personal and generous work. ❤️ taken in Vino-Vero by @marasartore

#CharlotteColbert for Venice Biennale Portraits.

Presented with "Possible Landscapes", two site-specific interventions in historic gardens across Venice. At the Giardino di Ca' Granda della Regina, overlooking the Grand Canal opposite the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, a polished steel arch crowned by an eye stands as a portal, an invitation to see the world otherwise.
At #AmanVenice, Colbert transforms the hotel's historic garden into a space for wandering, discovery and quiet magic, exploring the idea of gardens not as backdrop but as artworks in their own right.

Still smiling from last night. My children, my friends, my people. Beautiful and crazy friends, endless hugs, laughter and so, so much love. ❤️

And to everyone who couldn’t be in Venice but flooded me with messages from near and far: I felt you there.

Thank you to my amazing Lightbox Team for all the love (and these brilliant badges!) and to the Bea Vita Team for making the magic happen.

Very loved. Very lucky. Very happy.

#MerikeEstna for Venice Biennale Portraits

Estonia's representative at the 61st Venice Biennale with #The HouseofLeakingSky, curated by #NataliaSielewicz.

A former church in Castello is transformed into an open studio where Estna develops a #monumentalpainting throughout the duration of the Biennale, inviting visitors to witness the work as it comes into being.

Conceived as a living, performative and social medium rather than a finished object, her practice moves between canvas, architecture and everyday life, bringing artistic labour into dialogue with #motherhood, care and collective forms of making.
