See you this Satuday at the gallery at 5 pm for Dans le salon de Marcelle Alix 20 a conversation between Béatrice Gross and Gyan Panchal.

They will discuss the exhibition la soustraite and what the objects and gestures it brings together seem to address. They will likely explore threshold-bodies and synthetic materials, ragpickers and mass production, while attempting to sketch out a few historical lineages.

Marcelle Alix is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11 am to 7 pm.

This Thursday, the opening of Mira Schor's solo exhibition “Wet/London” will take place at @mimosahouselondon in London. See you there !

"Mimosa House presents a solo exhibition by renowned feminist artist Mira Schor. This will be her first solo presentation in a UK publicly-funded gallery and will include a new site specific work made for Mimosa House. […] Wet/London will comprise paintings, drawings and other paper works that span the breadth of Schor’s career from her time as a student at CalArts on the Feminist Art Program in the 1970s to the present day. The exhibition is anchored by a new site-specific painting commissioned with the support of rossogranada through its Artists First programme, for Mimosa House’s six-metre fireplace wall. Responding to the scale and architectural symbolism of the hearth, the work reclaims a traditionally domestic site as a space of feminist inscription and public address. This commission underscores the exhibition’s urgency, asserting painting as an active, contemporary language rather than an historical form."

Following a wave of sexist and homophobic comments targeting our previous post—since removed by Meta—about Donna Gottschalk’s exhibition ‘Nous autres’ at GwinZegal Art Centre, we feel it is more important than ever to reaffirm the importance of making queer lives, histories, and memories visible.

We will not allow a vocal group of individuals to intimidate us. We will continue to support artists and practices that give space to stories that have long been marginalized, and that propose other ways of inhabiting the world, building chosen families, loving, and resisting. It is deeply troubling that an image showing a woman’s cheast can be removed within moments, while coordinated harassment, sexist abuse, and homophobic attacks continue to flourish with inadequate moderation.

The violence of these reactions only reminds us why Donna Gottschalk’s work remains so essential. Her photographs bear witness to lives that some would still rather erase from view. We will continue, with conviction, to ensure that they remain visible.
