My dream changed Saturday night.

I went to a Banana Ball game at American Family Field. Party Animals versus the Loco Beach Coconuts. 41,000 people. And I walked out a completely different broadcaster than I walked in.

I noticed something I have never seen at a sporting event in my life — nobody left before the final out because nobody knew what was coming next.

That’s not sports. That’s an experience.

I’ve been so focused on being professional. Structured. Polished. Saturday night blew that up completely.

My dream didn’t get smaller. It got louder.

I still want ESPN. I still want the Women’s College World Series. But now I know what I want to do when I get there. I want to be the reason someone shows up because they heard they couldn’t miss it.

We’re just getting started.

Let me say that again - I don’t believe in luck. I believe you show up, you build, and eventually the doors start opening.

People flew into Chicago from across the country for this event. I drove down from Wisconsin. I was one of the only students there from a non-Division I school. And I walked out more fired up than I walked in.

Taylor McGregor told me, “be you and don’t be afraid of that. You is enough.” That one hit coming from someone doing it at the highest level every day.

Boog co-founded Project Main St. after losing his best friend Tim to ALS. He uses his platform to make sure people living with ALS feel seen. Taylor puts this event on as a fundraiser for Project Main St. and a way to give back. That’s the kind of humans I got to sit across from. If you want to support the cause — projectmainst.org.

Nick Steger told us the most important thing you can do in this business is show up consistently, be positive, and never big league anyone. Simple & true.

The biggest thank you to Mr. and Mrs. G. I would not have been in that building without them and I do not take that for granted for a single second.

Shoutout to the interns Maeve, Bria, and every passionate person in that room. You guys are going to do great things.

Taylor, Boog, Nick, Marquee, Wrigley and my fellow broadcasters. Thank you for allowing me to share space with you and continue to be a student of the game.

I’ll be back.

One of my favorite stand up hits pre-game from the Men’s Soccer season. @foenem_222 has gone mega viral for his song remixes including one about “MSOEEEE”

Muskies just secured a conference tournament berth & despite dropping the last two they’re still in a position to have an opportunity to host the opening round.

Lots of good brewing on this historic season and blessed to cover it.

Muskie of the Match, Mal Kovalaske, tallied 16 kills and 3 HUGE blocks. None bigger than to win the fifth set as Lakeland rallies from a strugglesome first to take down previously unbeaten MSOE in NACC play.

Muskies are hot as they roll into an away match with Dominican Saturday.

Somebody can’t make it to the game tonight. A parent stuck at work, a grandparent who can’t do the bleachers anymore, an alum states away. The broadcast is how they get there.

That’s the part of this job I never take for granted.

Three years ago I called my first game. Now I get to be the Voice of the Muskies, and every call is one step closer to the dream: calling the Women’s College World Series.

Thank you to everyone who listens, watches, and lets me tell these stories.

BUILT VS BOUGHT.

The Milwaukee Brewers are saving baseball.

The 2002 Moneyball A’s won 103 games on a budget and lost in the first round. These Brewers went 103-59 too, with a bottom-half payroll, and they’re up 3-0 on a Dodgers team that outspends the Brewers, Rays, and Guardians combined.

The Dodgers haven’t homered once this series. If that holds, it’s their first postseason series without a home run since 1996.

With baseball’s labor deal expiring in December, this series is bigger than a pennant. A Dodgers three-peat says money wins. A Brewers upset says it doesn’t have to.

Nobody had them up 3-0. One more.

103 wins is not luck.

The Brewers and Dodgers were the only 100-win teams this year. Milwaukee won the season series. Now they’re up 2-0 on the two-time defending champs, and they’re still being treated like a fluke.

Last year LA swept them. This year the Brewers are three games in LA away from rewriting that.

No superstar payroll. Gritty wins. So many guys step up. They just find a way.

Great day to be a Muskie, especially if your name is Ryan Figi!

Figi becomes the 17th Muskie to reach 1,000 career digs in a three-set sweep of Rockford that was dominant.

Figi talks about the match, and program that’s helped her get here.

Muskies will stay at home for a match Thursday against MSOE with first serve at 7 p.m.
