I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be one of the speakers at Immersive Warsaw 🙌

I’ll talk about light in CinematicVR productions: how it sets the mood, guides the viewer’s attention, and shapes a space where the frame no longer exists. I’ll also share how I translate the language of film into the entirely new language of cinematic VR: what I bring with me from classic cinematography, and what has to be reinvented when the viewer stands right in the middle of the scene.

If you’re into VR storytelling, working with light, or simply the future of cinema, come join us! I’d love to chat, swap experiences, and hear what you’re working on!

📍 Warsaw, Kinoteka
📅 November 5, 2026

„NIEPOSPOLITA” — a short narrative film | Post 1/3

Dir. Tomasz Dobosz | DoP: Marcin Magiera

A writer and his assistant travel the country, interviewing some of the most fascinating people of their time — for a report made for a brand-new medium: television. The writer is Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz, played by the wonderful Patryk Szwichtenberg. His assistant, Diana, is played by the charming Agata Różycka, who (always!) steals the show.
Along the way they meet a friar, an Olympic runner, a government minister, a cabaret star, a chocolate manufacturer and an actor — six very different lives, filmed as a portrait of a world about to change.

Using the story’s own concept — our characters are making a television report — we wove in real archival footage of pre-war Warsaw life.

„NIEPOSPOLITA” — through the lens | Post 2/3

Shot on an ARRI Alexa Mini with Hawk Anamorphic C-Series lenses — a unique optical set built on vintage Lomo Anamorphic glass. Equipment courtesy of Kivi Rental.

That Eastern European optical character — oval bokeh, soft horizontal flares, a more organic kind of imperfection than most modern anamorphics — felt like the right lens through which to tell a pre-war Central European story.

The film also uses CGI: in a car-chase sequence against the LuxTorpeda train, built as a full 3D model.

One scene carries a true story behind it. When Diana appears on screen in a stunning gown at the ball, something unplanned happened on set: a real composer sat down at the piano and began to play. What he improvised that day was used, note for note, in the film’s final score. It was a moment of real emotion for the crew.

BLUE — Dobrawa Czocher (music video) Dir. Marek Leszczewski | DoP: Marcin Magiera

“Blue” is the announcement single for Dobrawa Czocher’s second solo album. This posts shares a few framesfrom the video — watch the full thing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9doLZG7-C0

„To film „Blue,” we engaged a small village on the Polish coast. The openness of the local community to our crazy ideas was something unexpected, which I was incredibly happy about. Mr. Bogusław and his fishing boat; Mr. Arkadiusz and the 19th-century Gburska Zagroda that he shared with us; and my parents, who served as chefs on set. We also invited children to participate in the project, so we spent a day with their parents. Thank you so much for their trust and contribution! I was also very happy with the openness of the wonderful actor from the Wybrzeże Theatre, Mr. Jerzy Gorzko, who, after hearing the song and reading the script, immediately agreed to appear in the video. It goes without saying that none of this would have happened without the amazing team, led by the story’s creator and director, Marek Leszczewski, a person for whom nothing is impossible, our cameraman, editor, the heart of this action, Marcin Magiera, the brain of this operation, producer Emilka Mitka. Furthermore, I thank every single person who was an invaluable piece of this puzzle: Franek, @instapaligu @zuzzzko @inga_niemaluje Maria, Katarzyna, @cytrynian_sodu @kilian____n Piotr, Kamil, @milenawielgo and Filip

Through the DP’s eyes | POST 2/3

This project was shot on a Sony FX6 with Atlas Mercury lenses and black promist filters. I wanted ananamorphic image in the compact form of a small lens and we also experimented with an unusual 3:1 aspectratio on this project. No big, heavy technical crew. On set it was really justme and a focus puller.

Marek, the director — someone I’ve known for years — had a very specific vision for this video. After we gotback from the shoot, we picked our selects and laid them out to match the script, then cut the video together. The beautiful color grade is by Milena Wielgo.

Pt. 3/3 — the finale, and the phenomenon behind it: the light column 👇

The finale: the light column | POST 3/3

The ending of our story was inspired by a remarkable light phenomenon — a so-called light column. It formswhen light refracts through ice crystals suspended in the air; their triangular shape bends the light into an arcthat can’t naturally be recreated the same way twice.

We dreamed of recreating it practically, in the sterile conditions of a studio. In the end, I built the effectdigitally — using a flare generator and added textures.

Thank you so much to the whole crew 💪
