Snapped a pic of this beauty on my hike yesterday not knowing what kind of flower it was. Turns out it was a Trillium, thanks to @amity._.island for identifying it and sharing it’s interesting lifecycle:

Trilliums must bide their time before enough energy is saved up to produce a flower. In an optimal setting, it can take a single Trillium 7 to 8 years to produce a flower. If conditions aren’t the best, then it may take upwards of 10 years.

Didn’t realize at the time just how special this little flower was. I used to always hike looking for a PR and a big summit view, but hiking with Am has taught me to look around more below tree-line, and not miss the beauty along the way❤️ taken in Mount Whiteface, Sandwich Range of the White Mountains by @marcloverin

A little hazy and not many good views to speak of on this grind of a hike, but looking south at the lake when I am usually looking at these peaks from the other direction was worth it….plus 2 more 4000 footers checked off.
