Our new office and storefront sign at 1195 Wellington Street West represents more than just a location—it marks another milestone in the growth of Wellington Mortgage Group and the incredible community that has supported us along the way.

This space gives us a place to meet with clients, business partners, lenders, and real estate professionals, while continuing to serve Ottawa homeowners, investors, and entrepreneurs with the personalized advice they’ve come to expect from our team.

Happiest closing day to my amazing first time homebuyer clients who had had their eye on a specific property since December, but weren’t ready to offer on it until the Spring. They were super sad that they might miss out on this home, but had come to terms with it.

Everything happens for a reason and by some miracle, the property was still on the market in March and everything fell into place for them to be able to make the move on an offer.

We saw a bunch of other homes as a good back up plan in case we lost out, but we always came back to this one. Checking almost every single box they wanted, we got this under asking (although the seller was originally adamant about her price).

When offering on a home, price isn’t everything. And we made the rest of our offer as attractive as possible.

Thank you so much J & C for trusting me with such a huge part of your lives. I’m so excited for your next chapter, for the “I Dos”, and to hear about all the memories you make here - pennies for the ghosts, and all 😂🤍

What if one extra payment a year could erase years off your mortgage?

Banks don’t tell you this, but it’s not a secret. They rely on a lack of financial education. But I’m here to break it down for you.

Here’s what most homeowners don’t realize:

In the early years of your mortgage, most of your payment goes toward interest - not the amount you actually owe. That’s how amortization works… and it’s why your balance barely seems to move at first.

But here’s the good news: you can change that.

Making extra payments toward your principal, even just one per year (or making that first payment before your actual first payment is due) can:

• Shorten your loan term
• Save you thousands in interest
• Help you build equity faster

So make that extra payment, but make sure you tell your lender to apply it to the principal!! This one small detail makes all the difference.

All this means more financial flexibility for you and more options for your next move 🏡 ✨
