Still in that “did we really pull this off?” feeling.

Origin Stories went from a casual idea on a Friday hike to a room full of people listening to African founders share the real journeys behind their businesses. Sitting there and seeing it actually happen…it hit me that we didn’t just run an event, we opened a platform.

Almost every hike, I hear the same thing from VCs and investors:

“There’s serious talent in South Africa…but all we see are decks and death by PowerPoint-type of presentations.”

You don’t get to feel the story.

You don’t get to hear about the visas that got denied, the months of no salary, the pivots, the family pressure, the one client that changed everything.

That’s what Origin Stories is about.

A space where founders can talk like humans, tell the truth about how they built what they built, and in the process not only inspire the room, but also put themselves in front of the right people who can back them, fund them, and help them scale.

On the night, you could feel the energy shift with every story. People weren’t just clapping; they were connecting.
