To Alpha,I’m proud to not only pay it forward but hold the light high for those that comes after. Beyond blessed to be a member of such a brotherhood that continues to pour into our community.To 🅱️eta,Thank you for the lessons, support, and all the guidance you’ve given me. I learned many things but the most valuable lesson is that when all else fails the hood will be there to catch and help elevate to new heights. As my time in undergrad may be up I have full faith in the Rev$ to pick up where we left off and elevate the chapter to new heights. While forever be thankful, college days swiftly pass. I will always appreciate the beautiful, beloved upper house of Alpha…🅱️eta chapterTo the VG$,I couldn’t imagine Alpha without each of you. I truly appreciate you all as y’all brought me up when I was low, and held me down when bs was at an all-time high. We had one year down but a lifetime to go. To Psi Tau,It’s crazy to think that these two years flew by as quickly as they did, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t appreciate every second of it. Whether it was securing internships, navigating corporate spaces, or remaining authentic in the financial industry, I knew that there was never a need to worry. Psi Tau showed me that I am more than a principled business leader; I am a beacon of hope and must continue to pay it forward in the exact same way my ancestors paid it forward for me. Thank you, Psi Tau.To Phi,A class filled with dreams and aspirations, thank you for showing me what it means to be a pioneer. Whether it was being an entrepreneur, an esteemed community activist, a poet who can paint pictures, or the School of Business class president, you all truly allowed me to learn from you, just as you all learned from me. As I went through my trials and tribulations, you all were always there to keep me grounded, no matter what was in front of me. With that being said, to my 14 heartthrobs and to my VPPE, I appreciate you all for everything, and as we finish our journey here at Howard, a new journey has just begun. From Chi to DC…from undergrad to AlumnusThis bittersweet moment of graduating hits even harder knowing that it’s not just any degree but one from Howard University. This degree is more than an ode to my intelligence but a symbol of perseverance and a beacon of hope.As I think back to the time I came onto campus freshman year, I didn’t know what to expect from this prestigious university. All I knew was to make connections and avoid the “Howard runaround” by any means necessary.Now that senior year has come to an end, all I can do is smile and be grateful for my undergraduate experience—from finding a “Howard hustle” to joining multiple organizations on campus; from being a bit bashful at times as a freshman to holding my head high as an alumnus with a full-time offer; from being excited to go to college and live my ancestors’ wildest dreams to being the inspiration for my little sisters to dream so big…Thank you to my village who continues to pour into me; thank you to the professors who took the time to help me succeed as a student; and thank you, Howard, for all you’ve taught me—the good, the bad, and the ugly—for it made me more than just a man with high ambition who believes the sky isn’t the limit, it’s just what we walk on, but a man with an enhanced sense of hustle, confidence, gratitude, and most importantly…a degree.Thank you,Marcus J.
