Mazzorbo housing project built in 1985 by Giancarlo de Carlo (12, Dec 1919 - 4, June 2005). Located on the island of Mazzorbo in the lagoon just north of Venice, the buildings emphasize the island’s distinct identity through morphological principles grounded in local context and spatial tradition. A family of similar typologies with variation in form, color, and space. In need of restoration but yet still, so much spatial and formal qualities. The result of an architect that embraces public participation. by @marcuswilford

Built in 1930 and designed by the second director of the Bauhaus Hannes Meyer, the building functioned as a collective and collaborative education center for trade union workers. It only operated for three years until the Nazi regime confiscated the property after a ban on trade unions. During that time it was used by the regime for ideological training of SS soldiers to develop a common facist and racist doctrine for Nazi propaganda. The building now operates as a reception and housing center for asylum seekers and refugees. by @marcuswilford
