The dreaded goodbye… this sport has meant everything to me the last 13 years of my life. Everyone who knows me knows how passionate I am about cheer. Leaving this sport and moving on to big girl things is quite literally one of the hardest pills to swallow. I’ve tried to take a “break” multiple times but my heart could not be without cheer. The 12 hours of practice per week, the traveling with my cheer family for competitions, the feeling when your team is continually called as the highest scoring routine of the entire day. Nothing will ever match the excitement and happiness that this sport has brought me. Many life lessons, so many travel experiences, and most importantly SO many great memories! No matter what goes on outside of cheer I could always walk into the gym and forget all of my problems and just be free. Throwing up that stunt, whipping those jumps, sticking my pass, the hugs after hitting my routine are forever memories in the back of my mind. One thing that Allstar Cheer has taught me that will stick with me is that if you really want something-you will do what it takes to get it. I am so proud of myself for never giving up on what I love. It’s very easy to let other people,coaches, or past experiences ruin the sport but i’m thankful that I kept on going. I fought until the very end, and I may not ever be a world champion but let me tell you I never gave up. My first year at ASW I won silver, the next year I didn’t even make finals but that did not stop me from working to get what I wanted and I did exactly that. I pushed and pushed and came home with another silver medal and followed up with an undefeated season and a third silver medal, missing the gold by .1 “Don’t let them outwork you..” Ending my cheer career on one of my best L3 teams in the entire world is a direct reflection of my passion and dedication that I greatly devoted my life to. This is truly an opportunity of a lifetime and I wish I could go back in time and tell 5 year old me how far we have come but to also relive everything. I will never get to experience this again, my time has come to say goodbye. It’s been quite the journey. Thank you Allstar Cheerleading. by @mareelynnb
