America is like a domestic violence victim attempting to leave their relationship.The last four years,we have been debased,battered,defiled ,while being isolated from our friends .
This relationship has created constant chaos,self doubt,undermined our self confidence ,sowed seeds of self hate and ongoing fear and trepidation.
We have a faint glimmer of how strong we once were and a dimming believe in how good our lives could be in the future. Meanwhile ,our abuser continues to claim he loves us,but his behavior suggests otherwise. We decide we are done with this toxic,damaging relationship and we must leave. This is the most dangerous time with an abuser because their ego will not tolerate the letting go and the loss of his power.This is the most dangerous time.The abuser will rage and do everything to inflect harm on the object of his “ love”.
All the while ,others will not support or understand your reason to leave this relationship;that’s ok. However,if you are to survive, you have to end this relationship.It will take time for others to see what you already know;if I’m going to have any meaningful life that I can take pride in,I must leave this relationship.It will be hard to regain my footing,to learn to trust in myself again,to reconnect to my worth again. It will take time to repair the damage that has been done ,but I have no choice.I AM WORTH THE EFFORT! by @margedavit
