Edinburgh Airport Redesign ✈️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Edinburgh airport recently updated its logo and identity with this super open typeface paired with simplified mark of their famous ATC tower. I wanted to try and see what I could do in a redesign for a bit of fun. Although I’m a big fan of this more open approachable look that’s being showcased in the type, I wanted to tone this down a notch in my redesign whilst still carrying the playfulness in the R. This will often be viewed as one of the first touchpoint of travellers entering the country for the first time. I wanted to create hierarchy in making “EDINBURGH” much bigger than airport almost as a welcome. Finally I’ve incorporated the tower icon into the wordmark as I couldn’t ignore the opportunity within the negative space between the D and I. I’ve also reintroduced some of the castle wall details to make the mark more ownable, and to nod back to the previous identity. The top of the tower also reads as a capital E lying on its back which ended up being a happy wee bi-product revealed in the overall design. Which is your favourite? BALNCE by @margelisdesign Voting winner This week’s voting winner goes to @margelisdesign for this bold, textural concept for BALNCE! The material play here is what makes it sing. Soft-focus editorial photography collides with chunky, slightly warped wordmark type, while the powder blue and buttery yellow palette gets pushed through acrylic sandwich boards, chrome 3D logo renders, and the result feels equally at home in a boutique studio and out on the street. Amazing job on this pilates club brand @margelisdesign by @margelisdesign

BALNCE for @briefcorp I wanted to contrast the typical softer Pilates aesthetic and lean more into the intensity of the movements found within. The abstract “B” mark is inspired by the formation of a pebble balancing on-top of another. These have been conjoined and a B is revealed in a fluid like form. The wordmark “BALNCE” nods to this idea of fluid, flow & movement by the unity of the connected letterforms.
