I really don’t plan to fill my entire page with self-portraits, I promise! However, January hasn’t been a strong start so far. I’m very skeptical of my every idea and find it difficult to concentrate on creative work. So, a self-portrait is always an available option that doesn’t require too much brain power. Anyway, this 22 frame project ended up being a fun little adventure. I spent plenty of time enjoying my favourite Derwent pencil in Chocolate 🍫 The chunky dark strokes are especially pleasant when you work with a soft pencil like this. Not sponsored (unfortunately) Hope you like the result!

They say it’s a good thing to post more of yourself on social media. So, a whimsical self-portrait will do for now ✨

Hi! My name is Margarita. I’m 27. I don’t know what to say other than that I enjoy drawing pictures, especially the ones that move. My inspiration usually comes from music, nature and my fellow artists. Graphite is my number one choice for art media, but I also enjoy getting humbled by watercolour from time to time. Coloured pencils are my newest obsession, too!

This piece you see is a a loop of 22 frames drawn in coloured pencil (223 Deep Red Polychromos pencil by Faber-Castell to be exact) scanned and set to play at 10 fps ✏️❤️

Feel very honoured to see a lot of new people here. Please, don’t hesitate to introduce yourself in the comments ✨ I can be slow to reply, but always enjoy chatting with other creative souls.

I’ve been meaning to create something for @reineorelia for MONTHS. The themes she touches on in her music just resonate with me on so many different levels 🫶🏻🖤 More on that later (it’s the story worth telling!) but for now… Here’s some playful existential horror for you to enjoy 🕳️

The story I posted the other day resonated with people, so I decided to turn it into a carousel 🖤 One of the most common roadblocks, on of the most important lessons (in my humble opinion anyway ✋🏻) by @margett__

This is the closest to what I get to experience seeing it all finally come together 🖤 These aren’t perfectly aligned, but hope you get the feeling!

The irony of me moving every bit on every slide just a little a thousand times just to make it look ‘more perfectly aligned’ 🙂 Do I ever listen to my own advice 🫠😂

I turned one of my older borzoi line sketches into an animated loop. It’s a simpler project, but I’m really drawn to diving into simpler forms of drawing and animating nowadays. While also learning to actually 2d animate without relying too much on rotoscoping.

This metric is just a fun excuse for another carousel showcase 😜 By no means do I judge my art by its performance online. Actually, I’m gonna tell you a secret 🤫 My best performing pieces aren’t necessarily my favourite. Funny enough, the opposite is often true. Some of the stuff I’m most proud of just doesn’t do well online. Oh well. What can you do about it 😂 It’s a gamble, a silly game. The moment I stopped treating social media seriously it all became so so much easier.

Also, a side note. These are not just my best performing animations. These are the only animations I’ve posted so far 😂 Who knows how many more we’ll have by the end of the year. Hopefully at least SOME more 😬
