This is a lamp base I made some time ago but only recently took a photo of it. However, I asked AI to style it by adding a different wall colour and of course it then asked if I wanted some other props. This the result. Original photo is the last one. Im in two minds whether Im comfortable posting AI generated images because it changes elements of the work, which is why I included the original. 🤔 But it certainly helps to imagine how it can look.

Tile testing underway. Im renovating my laundry so this is the perfect opportunity to make my own tiles. I’m testing shrinkage, colours and design before launching into making the 60 tiles Ill need. Plus all the extras to cover for breakage and other issues 🤦‍♀️ 😁

‘Hot Hands Cha’. We all know that drinking tea from a cup without a handle is dangerous, but traditionally this is how its drunk in many Asian countries. This is my take on an Asian tea set. A happy accident that was born out of a piece i chopped off one of my other teapots. The cedar wooden teapot base and the plates were made by my sister. A wonderful collaboration.

SALA Exhibition ‘Need More Tea’ opening night was a great success. 24 potters exhibited their work, and a great turnout attended. My 2 tea-sets are appropriately named ‘Form Over Function’ and ‘Hot Hands’ 😁. Thank you to the Q on Hallett gallery for including me amongst well renowned South Australian artists.

Its been a while, but have been dabbling in some pottery over the past 2 months getting ready to submit something into this exhibition of tea-pots. And now that they have survived the final firing I can promote my participation.

For now it’s time to say goodbye to Sri Lanka and the Red House farm, and to the people who made it special. Back to Adelaide for the next house adventure. taken in Hanwella, Sri Lanka by @margo4design

I went to visit an indigo workshop today, and while I didn’t do any dyeing myself, I learnt a lot about the process. And it is way more difficult and technical than I thought. Chemistry and years of practice to get the solutions and dyeing techniques correct. The fabulous red fabric, which actually comes from the Madder root, took 3 years to perfect. The Indigo in the vats have to ferment to produce the right colour and have been consistently fed for 3 years to keep it active. I think I have these facts correct. Its another reminder of how much time goes into craft projects and products. Thank you to @bakr.society for your time and expertise.

Oh, Ive also thrown in a photo of the beautiful truck art here.

Its been a long time since I made anything out of clay. About 9 months. Moving from Dubai, UAE back to Adelaide, Australia, via Sri Lanka for a couple of months and a holiday, has delayed any creative pursuits. But this week Im at the Kochi Biennale in Kerala taking on a few workshops and absorbing the architecture and art exhibits. I had the opportunity to spend 15 minutes make a small sculpture with this artist. Can’t wait to spend a little more time creating in the near future. taken in Kochi, India by @margo4design

SIKKA 2026

This series grew out of conversations about what it means to live and grow up in the Emirates. As stories unfolded, it was not the grand or extraordinary that surfaced, but the small, familiar things that linger in memory. A carton on a grocery shelf, condiments from a corner cafeteria, an object left on the kitchen table — these simple items became touchstones of belonging.
In clay, I reimagine these everyday forms as sculptural works, elevating the ordinary into vessels of memory. They carry with them the warmth of home, the laughter of siblings, the presence of parents and friends. Shaped in ceramic, they ask us to pause and consider how the most unassuming objects can hold entire worlds of recollection.
These pieces are not only about what is seen, but about what is felt — the quiet intimacy of memory stirred by the everyday. My hope is that they awaken in you the same sense of recognition, and the comfort of remembering. taken in Al Shindagha Tunnel by @margo4design
