Friday is my Brum day, only no more. This is an overdue appreciation, love and gratitude post to celebrate the two years I spent as an artist in residence at the Birmingham School of Jewellery. Two years is a long time and not enough time. I had the best time. I made work, I made friends, I made a lot of mess. I made fire and smoke. I introduced the students to my practice and was lucky enough to be allowed to participate in their process, repeatedly. My work ended up being referenced in essays, how much cooler could it ever get! I was granted time with incredible mentors, loving, knowledgeable and endlessly generous. Thank you @a.i.r_soj @soj_jo_bcu @soj_ma_jrp Thank you @skeels_ @mne_eddy @ionamccuaig @vespersian @a_lorenz_jewellery__metalwork @nualaclooney @nw.clarke @justified_sinner #bridielander @dunn_roaming @chloetilbury95 @karen.bartlett.395 @anastasiayoungjewellery and all other staff at the school. ❤️ Thank you to all the fellow artists in residence. Huuuuge thank you to all the students. I have so many more pics I would love to share. I have so much love. by @margo_orlovik

✨ Future Matter opens tomorrow evening as part of London Design Festival 2026 @l_d_f_official Introducing Margo Misiak-Orlovic and her work Z/G/T/H [01] & [02]. Through experimental enamel on copper, Margo Misiak-Orlovic explores more-than-human materiality and alternative ways of making through collaboration with natural materials. Rooted in environmental thinking, the work considers Earth materials as active participants rather than passive resources. Developed through material experimentation, the objects evoke organic, mineral, and living forms, while remaining intentionally ambiguous and open to interpretation. Join us this weekend at Future Matter to discover works exploring new possibilities of material, making, and everyday objects. 📍 ASC Handbag Factory, Gallery 1 📅 12–14 September 2026 (Soft Opening on 12th, 6-9pm) Artwork: Z/G/T/H [01] & [02] Materials: Experimental enamel on copper, artist-developed technique Dimensions: 21 × 40 × 38 cm / 25 × 62 × 50 cm Artwork by @margo_orlovik #FutureMatter #LondonDesignFestival #LDF2026 #NestALab MargoMisiakOrlovic by @margo_orlovik
This is how I make my work. It will never cease being the most exciting and the most beautiful part of the process. I apply coats of experimental enamels to the objects and I use torches to fire the enamel surfaces. I build an intoxicatingly intimate relationship with every single one of my objects. I know its every fold, every wrinkle, every scar. I touch and hold and take them in, again and again. Process is everything. Material is everything. Relationship is everything. . FUTURE MATTER The Handbag Factory - Gallery 1 3 Loughborough Street LONDON SE11 5RB . 12 September: 4.30: Artist Talk with Dr. Sofie Boons @thealchemicaljeweller 6-9: Opening Reception . 12 Sept 11:00 – 21:00 13 Sept 11:00 – 17:00 14 Sept 11:00 – 17:00 . 》》 I will be showing some of the sculptural objects from Z/G/T/H series @l_d_f_official this year. . . Future Matter The Handbag Factory Gallery 1 3 Loughborough Street LONDON SE11 5RB . . PV: 12 September 6-9pm 》Preceded by an Artist Talk with Dr. Sofie Boons @thealchemicaljeweller 4.30pm . . The Z/G/T/H project is an attempt to open new ways of engaging with more-than-human materiality – collaborative, nonhierarchic, respectful. Rooted deeply in an environmental concern and responding to the perceived urgency for radical change, the project engages with the concepts of all Earth materiality as vital and in possession of agency. . Rooted in material experimentation and brought into being through a series of intimate and collaborative making processes and engagement with natural materials, the Z/G/T/H objects allude to life [aliveness] and evoke associations with various elements of the organic, natural, mineral world, at the same time remaining perfectly ambiguous, non-identifiable and boundary-evading, and not representing anything specific at all. . The name Z/G/T/H references the idea of zoe/geo/techno assemblages introduced by the posthuman philosopher Rosi Braidotti. Firmly a posthuman advocate myself, I have counterintuitively reinserted the ‘human’ as the fourth element, as I perceive it as a still critically relevant global agent and a discrete object of examination, to be processed and processed-with. . . Future Matter is a curated exhibition exploring sustainable material futures through contemporary design, craft, textiles, innovative products, and research-led practices. . . Lovingly curated by @nest_a_lab @i.am.emma.cool with academic guidance from @thealchemicaljeweller . . I hope you can come! . Objects exhibited: Z/G/T/H [01] and Z/G/T/H [02], experimental enamel on copper, 2024. 《《 by @margo_orlovik
(..) and – the only way how to think about the world, the only way that is compatible with relativity is that the world is not a collection of things, it is a collection of events. The difference between things and events is that things persist in time; events have limited duration. A stone is a prototypical “thing”: we can ask ourselves where it will be tomorrow. Conversely, a kiss is an “event”. It makes no sense to ask where the kiss will be tomorrow. The world is made up of network of kisses, not stones. / My deepest gratitude to everyone who took time to engage with my work. / shiftings (2026), experimental enamel on copper, found objects, text / Unanchored City 6-9 August 2026 Copeland Gallery London / Curated by @domocltv Hosted by @copelandparkse / The quote above from Carlo Rovelli, The Order Of Time. / Photo 17 kindly by @minlykim 🙏🏻🫶🏻 by @margo_orlovik
Time is the relentless shifting of matter/ Life is materiality in transit and infinite arousal/ Each breath welcomes mutation/ Nothing ever anywhere is not change/ All bodies | forever entangled | shift towards a single | fluid | expanded rhizomatic being/ Mundane becomes eternal | familiar dissolves into unimaginable/ In this reality of constant flux | all permutations become equally viable probabilities/ All materiality becomes kin/ The cluster of a city is a nest | an incubation site | a hold/ Always morphing | endlessly flowing | all material being gets an equal opportunity to manifest itself and coexist in peace | beyond definitions and judgements/ Life permeates all fractures | inhabits the city topology | as it shifts and ceaselessly reconfigures itself/ A suitcase escapes into the liminal | becomes an unexpected safe space | a home | a breeding ground | a transit pod | a hideout and a refuge/ / shiftings (2026), experimental enamel on copper, found objects, text -- combining new and previously exhibited objects / Unanchored City 6-9 August Copeland Gallery / Curated by @domocltv Hosted by @copelandparkse by @margo_orlovik
