Šis projekts bija un joprojām ir ļoti īpašs un liels izaicinājums man. Radošs un nozīmīgs.

Ceļojums cauri leļļu mākslas vēsturei (ar uzsvaru uz leļļu vietu protestā) kļuva arī par pašatklāsmes ceļojumu man kā aktrisei un leļļiniecei.

Gadu atpakaļ, kopā ar brīnišķīgu komandu, uzsākām šo procesu mūsu lieliskās režisores Veronikas Abdul-Visockas vadībā.
Vienlaikus, Latvijā norisinājās plaši protesti pret izstāšanos no Stambulas konvencijas. Baisa sakritība.

Pa kalniem un pa lejām, visās trijās valodās, kuras ikdienā lietoju - latviešu, angļu un poļu - mēs radījām šo stāstu.

Man šis ir arī stāsts par sevis apšaubīšanu, savas patiesās identitātes meklējumiem un cīņa ar nogurumu, izdegšanu.

Bet mēs varam pārvarēt savas bailes un neveiksmes, neuztvert tās pārāk nopietni un, ja esam gana drosmīgi, pat par tām pasmietoes. Un lelles mums var palīdzēt!

Īpaši tagad, vēstures lappusē, kuru rakstām mēs, šī izrāde var palīdzēt rast nozīmi daudziem.

This project was and still is a very special and challenging adventure for me. Truly creative and important.

A journey through the history of puppetry - with a focus on its role in protest - also became a journey of self-discovery for me as an actress and puppeteer.

Just a year ago, we entered this process with an amazing crew and our great director Veronika Abdul-Visocka.
Simultaneously, massive protests against the withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention were taking place in Latvia. A mesmerising coincidence.

Through ups and downs, in all three languages I use on a daily basis - Latvian, English, and Polish - we created this story.

For me, it is also a story of self-doubt, finding your true identity, and dealing with tiredness and burnout.

But we can let go of our fears and failures, not take them too seriously and, if we are brave enough, even laugh in their face. Puppets can help us do that!

I think especially now, in this moment of history we are living in, this show can resonate with many.

I invite you all to experience this story together with me at the Latvian Puppet Theatre!

2025 was the year Without a Head shot BABA, our first feature film.

The project was brought into being by a group of collaborators from different backgrounds beyond film production through generosity, craft, and a shared belief in the work. It continues to prove to us the power of collective process.

Across three years of development, the May 2025 shoot in Subcarpathia, Poland, and now in post-production, we have been able to expand our ways of making and further articulate our values as a collective. 2026 will be the year the film finds its final form and is sent out into festivals worldwide; sharing the work of so many, a film we are proud to stand by for its beauty, ambition, and place in our lives.

This year we look forward to growing our practices, developing projects with the people we love to work with, and meeting the collaborators we are yet to find.

Dažādām pasaules un vietējām aktualitātēm līdzi seko arī Latvijas Leļļu teātris, un piektdien, 28. novembrī, pirmizrādi piedzīvos protestu tēmai veltītā izrāde “Nē! Nē! Nē!”.

Režisores Veronikas Abdul-Visockas veidotajā monoizrādē, kuru vienlaikus varēs vērot tikai 25 skatītāji, tiks izspēlēta leļļu teātra un protestu kultūras mijiedarbes vēsture.

Aktrisei Malgožatai Apsei šī ir pirmā monoirāde. Tieši tāpēc tas bija liels izaicinājums. “Bet ļoti īpašs un iedvesmojošs process. Man visvairāk patika eksperimentālā pieeja.”

Leļļu teātris aizvien stereotipiski daudziem saistās ar izrādēm bērniem. Jaunā izrāde paredzēta tiem, kam jau ir 16 gadu vai vairāk.

Izrāde “Nē! Nē! Nē!” Latvijas Leļļu teātrī būs skatāma arī 29. un 30. novembrī, kā arī 2. decembrī.
