I donated the print “Lost In Thought ll” to the silent auction at BOA’S 50th Anniversary Gala Saturday, 9/26 at The Academy of Medicine. Photogtaphed in June, it was printed in July, then waxed and framed and inscribed on the back to BOA.

It’s from DoubleTake, the newest project in Living With Books.

Lost in Thought, photographed on June 23rd, printed, 11x14, was donated to BOA Editions 50th Anniversary Gala auction, is another print that points to a new direction that takes Living With Books beyond what I had imagined a couple months age.

Printed on Ilford Multigrade paper,and waxed its number 1 in an edition of 10.

Photographed “Reading On The Porch lll” at * 5:19 PM Saturday in the gallery on the porch of the Wellesley Hotel that is becoming a working place. The film will be processed in Rochester and printed in the next couple of weeks. Then I expect to do one more generation for the project that links Living With Books with DoubleTake.

Andre Kertesz’s On Reading and Nicholas Basbanes A Gentle Madness, are both wonderful books that inspired this project.

I have several related photographs that will be done Sunday afternoon so if you are in the area come by and watch. I fancy that this is akin to a magician putting the rabbit in the hat.

I don’t usually talk about the camera but I’ll have the 4x5 #Linhof camera setup with #Ilford film. .

Donated to the 2026 Penland Auction happening this weekend. It’s a 16 x 20“ print in a 20 x 24“ Nielsen metal frame.

I was invited to teach several workshops, learned a lot, met wonderful people, and it gave my career a significant boost. That’s why I continue to donate.

Counsel Oak, photographed in 1989 on the Nazareth campus, now a 24 x 30 inch print from the DoubleTake project has gone through several revisions. That’s Chara Dow’s bench, actually different benches, and Greg Lago’s sculpture.

i’m looking for the name of this series or project, now tentatively called DoubleTake but think there must be a better name. It’s about the opposite of peeling the onion, because I’m adding layers not removing them. If you have suggestion, put them in “Comments”.

The original print dated July 16, 2016 from the project Living With Books was titled “Reading About The Thousand Islands”. There is a signed A Floating World by Paul Malo; Thousand Islands Park: One Hundred Years And Then Some; Thousand Island Park; An American Eden by Clayton Butler; the 2016 edition of Know Your Ships; and a booklet Chicago Addresses by Swami Vivekanada, all on the arm of the chair.

In May 2026 I photographed the print, now framed, in the gallery, with several copies of Andre Kertesz’s On Reading, and Nicholas Basbanes’ A Gentle Madness, about book collecting. This was printed in June and now it’s in the same place under the clock with the same arrangement the books, and was photograhed last week. It’s scheduled to be printed and will be exhibited in my gallery on the porch of the Wellesley Hotel by the end of August.

Will Salisbury’s Untitled dancing figure, made from sticks found in his yard, may be one of his most creative projects. It didn’t take long, doesn’t use precious material and there’s no welding involved and no expectation of a sale. It was pure playfulness and inspiration.

It resided for a couple years on his loading dock in the midst of scraps, unfinished projects, worn out chairs and debris that could either be incorporated into something, or sent to the dump. That’s what attracted me to her.

“Everything looks like something else - inspiration is everywhere and ideas come from anywhere.”

I had done several photographs before I asked Will‘s nephew to hold the wrinkled sheet so it was isolated from the background. About a year later Will give it to me and it’s now dancing in the rock garden near our cottage. I say hello every morning if she doesn’t greet me first.

She hasn’t danced in a couple of years, but she does seem to move as the sun crosses overhead so she’s fun to watch.
