This is not the news that we had hoped to share... Margo has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 💔

Please know that we did everything we could for her. In the end it came down to quality of life.

I promise to share more info and answer all your questions in a future post. I just need some time to process her passing. She has left a huge hole in many people's hearts. Just know that Dana, from One Love and I were by her side and Barry was waiting for her at the Bridge. 🌈🐾

Thank you for loving Margo. 💓

Check out our sweet Margo! Her journey was only made possible by @onelovearizona Please join Margo in supporting all the amazing work they do for our shelter pups here in AZ. by @margospittiecrew

Welcome new followers!
We thought we should reintroduce ourselves. Margo was discovered as a stray and brought into our County shelter where I volunteer. I'm a fitness trainer. So when I saw Margo I was deeply saddened by how she could barely move 😢 I believed that I could help her, but I needed support. I reached out to @onelovearizona and they agreed to let me foster her. And so began Margo's weightloss journey!

Along the way it was discovered that Margo has hypothyroidism. Therefore, along with a proper diet and exercise, she requires medication. In the beginning Margo could barely walk and she couldn't stand long enough to eat or drink.

During Margo's weightloss journey, she fell in love with Barry, my 10-year old Staffy. He, unfortunately, has Valley Fever and is now struggling with a kidney disease. But their love affair sealed Margo's adoption deal. And then there is my sweet pea Fiona. She just turned 12. She is my soul dog, as we've been through a lot together! Every once in a while Margo will encourage Fiona to play.

Margo is best known for her famous head tilt, guilty side-eye, and sock stealing antics. We hope you enjoy our journey! 🐾

Thank you to everyone who has been with us from the beginning! We ❤️ you!

Sleeping with your dog offers several well-documented physical and emotional benefits. 🐾

❤️ Snuggling with a dog releases oxytocin and decreases levels of the stress hormone cortisol. This helps lower blood pressure and calm the nervous system.

❤️ A dog's physical presence, steady breathing rhythm, and natural warmth act as a soothing anchor that can ease loneliness, help combat insomnia, and provide emotional reassurance during the night.

❤️ Sharing a resting space deepens trust, reinforces companionship, and helps both you and your pet feel more secure and connected.... as long as they're not a bed hog! 🤣

🐾 Theo’s Pupdate: Getting to the Root of the Growling 🐾

A couple of weeks ago, Theo began Board and Train with Kathy at @outkastk9. Our hope was to figure out why Theo had been growling at me, primarily in the evenings.

After lots of questions, discussion, and putting the pieces together, Kathy and I believe Theo’s growling may not be behavioral at all. Instead, we suspect it could be a response to pain, specifically nerve pain. 💔

When Theo first entered rescue, his initial foster noticed a head tilt, facial twitches that would wake him from sleep, and stridorous (noisy) breathing. An MRI was recommended, and the results revealed narrowed ear canals, likely caused by a history of untreated ear infections. Unfortunately, this also resulted in some facial nerve damage.

We suspect Theo may be experiencing nerve pain that becomes more pronounced in the evenings. (And chewing on toys like the one in the video seems to be a trigger to his growling... so no more of these for now). Of course, this is still a theory, and we need further evaluation to better understand what's going on.

❤️‍🩹 Our next step? Theo has a vet appointment in one week, and we're hoping to get some answers and figure out how to help him feel more comfortable.

It's hard knowing our sweet boy may be in pain, especially when he can't tell us what's wrong. We're trying to listen to what he's communicating and give him the patience, understanding, and care he deserves. 💙

We'll keep you posted as we learn more about our sweet, silly Theo. Please send him some good vibes! 🐾❤️
