When thinking toward the future, we often try and hide the past. To me, the past is the most important. I would like to thank my great-grandparents (may they rest in peace) for laying the foundation for my future when they immigrated here, giving me opportunities they once dreamed of. To my grandparents, thank you for your love and belief in me—I would not be here without you. To my aunts and uncles, thank you for your support, for helping me grow, and for keeping me going. To my professors, thank you for your teachings, guidance, and encouragement throughout my journey. To my mom, thank you for never giving up on me and for loving me unconditionally. To my stepdad, thank you for stepping up, loving me like your own, and always being there for me. To my friends, thank you for being my home away from home. To my boyfriend, thank you for loving me through it all. To my cousins and sisters, thank you for holding my hand through hard times. To my entire family, thank you for believing in my theatrical journey. I love you all endlessly!♥️💛🔱

🌟 In our latest feature of ASU Latinx Artists You Should Know, we’re highlighting the incredible Maricela Gutierrez (@mari_g227 )! Maricela is a junior studying Theatre Acting at ASU and currently stars in a Murder Mystery troupe with American Immersion Theater. 🎭✨

Her advice to young Latinx creatives? “Have fun, embrace your uniqueness, and don’t let anyone discourage you – your voice matters!” 💪 Maricela finds inspiration from her Latinx peers at ASU and idolizes America Ferrera for the passion she brings to every role.

Thank you everyone who came to see the show, to actors who did their great performances, and huge thanks to ASU Fringe Fest for giving the opportunity to direct my first play!
It was a very personal and emotional work for me but I’m certainly inspired to do more and tell more about Ukraine💙💛
