"On Stones And Immortality" / our latest Art Cover story with Michèle Lamy and Barry X Ball shot by @marcogiulianoph out now

When @barryxballstudio and @lalamichmich first crossed paths in the quiet surrealism of Venice, a wordless connection sparked between sculptor and collector; rooted in observation, curiosity and creation. After a Milan morning spent wandering potential exhibition spaces to show the bust Barry sculpted of Michèle, and visiting the Rick Owens boutique –like ghosts casing a temple– we sat down to speak. About monolithic stones. About machines. About art as resistance; against time, against meaninglessness, against death itself.

@friezeofficial brings the art world to London. We follow what happens beyond its orbit, where the city’s cultural identity has always been forged: between artistic experimentation, subcultures, fashion, music and a long tradition of creative disobedience.

London has a particular talent for turning outsiders into cultural movements, and what begins at the margins often ends up rewriting the mainstream. With October’s darker atmosphere as our backdrop, we explore the city’s fascination with the strange, the subversive and the beautifully unsettling.

Across ten exhibitions and artistic projects, the NASTY selection traces the ideas, images and creative provocations worth looking at twice. Some revisit cultural myths, others challenge how we see the present.

Sound And Vision / Nick Zinner
Interview with @little_vampire

Somewhere between noise and image, the stage and the street, rock’n’roll and the early-2000s New York scene: a world where bands, artists, clubs and chaos collided. A guitar pushed beyond its clean sound: dark, brittle, distorted at the edges. Zinner’s photographs carry the same impulse, moving through faces, rooms, streets and bodies, caught somewhere between clarity and disappearance.

A Question Of Lust / @zollieoo
Interview with Shannon Cartier Lucy.

“Painting allows me to stay with things that are contradictory, unresolved, or difficult to explain.” In a time when the bizarre has become almost ordinary, what does it mean to remain genuinely other? A conversation that moves through the layers of normality and the authenticity of the absurd. Together with the artist, we question whether art can interrupt our habits of perception.

“Where Is My Home?” / @anatoly.shabalin.k is out now on @nastymagazine

There is a wooden box inside artist’s Berlin studio, built to the exact measurements of a seated body. What began as a purely functional structure has become, perhaps, an answer to a generational need: to find a place to settle when the rest of the world no longer seems to hold. We spoke about disorientation, about a low-grade anxiety that never fully switches off, and about the relentless pressure of images and information that accumulate without ever resolving into meaning. In this vortex of sensations, artistic practice becomes a refuge. Perhaps the only safe harbor left.

American experimental composer Stephen O’Malley @stephenomalley74 announces Avaeken, two sides of immense, immersive, self-annihilating music, in collaboration with artist @banks_violette_616 - out August 21st. Listen to “21:13 (take 4)” now streaming, and preorder the album in gorgeous silver foil packaging. Link in bio.

Avaeken preserves site-specific work: O’Malley installed Avaeken as part of Wish You Were Here, the exhibition by renowned American artist Banks Violette, underscoring the tension between presence and absence, life and loss. O’Malley and Violette have developed a distinct language of sound, space, and sculpture over the past two decades, reverberating the walls of world-class institutions from The Guggenheim and Centre Pompidou to prominent galleries such as Maureen Paley in London, Gladstone Gallery in NYC, and Antwerp’s TICK TACK, the brutalist space where Wish You Were Here unfolded in early 2026. Emerging now as an LP, Avaeken presents power and phenomena: low-frequency vibrations, deep oscillations, and phase cancellations that translate as innately effective in any environment. Violette’s visual expression — the impossibility of locating yourself within the loss of a friend and the broader decay of culture — now fills the LP sleeve and feels inextricable from O’Malley’s sound, both still without resolution.
