Love Letter to a Pizza Place ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
While making this painting I was thinking a lot about planting seeds and watching them grow into something bigger than oneself, about bearing fruit, providing nourishment, shelter and solace. About each small piece that makes up a whole, laying down a foundation for the future and about what it means to be a buttress for a community.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Yes, this is a portrait of a place, a piece of home and a little reminder of where something started, perfectly positioned at the next stop along its journey. But for me and many others it symbolizes more. I could go on about how the pizzeria became my second home and family. How unique it is to work with fathers and their sons, daughters, brothers, cousins. About how couples came in on their first date and years later I met their first born. Coworkers became friends then newlyweds and our chefs ventured off to open restaurants of their own across the country. How I used to put baby Nina on the pizza line and now she’s an amazing kid and art student, excited to use oils, helping me with the grass on this painting. About how much I grew as a person and watched others do the same within these four walls.. Okay I meant to spare the sentimental details but..⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Needless to say, @pizzeriabianco I’m so happy to see your endeavors flourish, branching out further west and now northward! It’s such an honor to be a part of the process, taking up the torch Big Leo handed off and to have my work hanging amongst his!! Gracias por todo CB and Mia ❤️🙏 taken in Pizzeria Bianco DTLA by @mariah_yager

‘Still Life with Bread Books and Basil’ ⁣⁣

Signed limited edition of 100, 16” x 20” giclée print on heavy weight archival paper⁣.

This is an AP (artist proof) and still needs a slight color adjustment but wanted to share as a size reference. I’ve never made a fine art print from a painting before, so this project was a fun way for me to experiment with the process and find professional printers to work with in the future. The guys at @phxphotolab are wonderful, do quality work and have some of the best machines around. DM to order your print! $100 plus shipping. taken in Phoenix, Arizona by @mariah_yager
