Maria leads CMG’s operations while also serving as an agent. She has 24 years experience from football at elite level across four countries and is a sport science graduate. An active member of the FIFA Agent Working Group and based in Sweden and Italy.

On September 15 in Madrid, CMG hosted the Women in Sport Leadership Exchange, bringing perspectives and ideas to inspire conversations and drive progress within women’s sport.

Over the years we have hosted five events. This year we took the next step by bringing Women’s Football Expo together with one of the biggest football events globally, the World Football Summit.

CMG initiated the Women’s Football Expo to connect leaders in women’s football, united by a shared ambition to move the game forward.

In the interview, Karlsson de Cecco unpacks the structural gap driving former players into boardrooms and governance roles, why "lived experience" catches problems before they get expensive, and how FIFA's 2021 and 2024 maternity regulations have turned parenthood from a fight into a normal part of contract negotiations.

Karlsson de Cecco also joins WFS Madrid as a speaker, where she will lead the Women in Sport Leadership Exchange — connecting executives, athletes, board members and sponsors to build the pipeline for women's football leadership.

From Umeå IK to BK Häcken, and now taking the next big step in her career with her first move abroad, joining one of the biggest football clubs in the world, Manchester United.
