— Crazy Little Things

Known for his innovative approach to figurative painting, ARJEN pushes the boundaries of anatomical representation by deconstructing and reassembling the human body into surreal and intriguing compositions.

His latest works, Crazy Little Things, bring together recognizable yet distorted elements, creating figures that feel at once unsettling and harmonious. Unexpected details and playful distortions invite us to look at the human form differently, questioning its familiar conventions while exploring a distinctive visual language.

We are delighted to present ARJEN’s newest works at 80 Rue de Turenne during the week of Art Basel Paris, as part of our fifth presentation in the heart of the Marais.

It takes people to bring an art show to life—and boy, all of you lovely, kind people who showed up at my opening did just that! Family, friends from near and far, people who have been important to me at different stages of my life, and art lovers whom I had never met before.

So I’d like to thank everyone who came out and shared their love, interest, and support for @marian_cramer , my work, and me. You are the ones who put “show” in art show, and it means the absolute world to me that you were there. I’m still floating on the excitement from that day!

My dear friend Marko was kind enough to take these wonderful photos, beautifully capturing so many intimate, sweet moments.

....aaand my solo show “I’m doing my best, honey” with @marian_cramer is up & running!! More about the love-induced opening night later, but working with Marian on our second solo together has been a breeze and also an unplanned full circle! When I started on the works for this show I wasn’t busy with a theme, but it all connected with my first show I did with Marian like a perfect puzzle piece. And the way they are displayed and laid out through her gezelig space, further confirms this.

Lotte Keijzer’s paintings bring together humour, observation and a distinctive use of colour. Through a graphically precise visual language and richly layered surfaces, she explores the tension between control and surrender, the everyday and the absurd.

Her work is playful and immediate, while touching on broader themes of resilience, imperfection and our ongoing attempt to navigate the world around us.

Keijzer lives and works in Haarlem, NL.

‘ I’m Doing My Best, Honey’
Opening Saturday 5 September, 5–7 PM

Marian Cramer Projects is delighted to invite you to the opening of ‘I’m Doing My Best, Honey’, a solo exhibition by Dutch painter Lotte Keijzer.

Keijzer’s paintings transform ordinary objects and everyday situations into reflections on resilience, care and the acceptance of uncertainty. Entirely painted freehand, the works balance graphic precision with richly textured surfaces, revealing traces of process and imperfection upon closer inspection.

In this new body of work, garden tools, drifting birds, towering waves and seemingly insignificant moments become visual metaphors for perseverance and the simple courage of continuing when life refuses to unfold according to plan.
